Thanks everyone for your compliments. This is the first time I have ever posted pictures of my candles. I have always been in awe of all the candles shown here and was a little nervous about posting mine.

I used to use the J50/J223 50% of each with zinc wicks. I switched to Alabaster APOP. Still use the zinc wicks. I think it has a great throw.

I like to use 1343 and 4625, depending on what type of pillar candle you are trying to make. I have never used soy, so can't comment on that

Just found this at Dollar Tree. Was hoping somebody would know how many wicks would have to go in here? I hadn't seen these before, but then again I have not been doing candles for the last several years.

Does anybody have any pictures of what a 3" round pillar made of 1343 wax should look like after it's final burn? I know that there has to be some wax left, but how much?

Hi Tia

I have not been able to use J50 as a tart wax. It is very hard to get out of the mold. Maybe if you mixed it with something else?

Can I keep testing on the same pillars that I have power burned to do the shorter times? Or do I have to start the shorter times on a new pillar.

Hi Regina,

I just made one test candle to see if I would like them. I used my container wax and no dye also. I also used the Peaks Sweet pumpkin spice. Since the pumpkins come in different sizes, mine may have been a little larger. I wicked up one size higher than yours to a 44z, and it has tested great. The wax has stayed about 1/2 to 1/4" thick on the sides which I think you need to have so the pumpkin doesn't burn.

They will be wonderful for Thanksgiving tables and decorations.

Thanks for the help Vicky. I have started test burning, but I was going for 8 hours at a time. Does the power burning make the candle last for less total hours?

Just moved back and starting my candles again (after 3 years). Lost all my notes on pillars and I need some help.

I just got my 4625 wax and made some test pillars (3"). How many hours do you test burn each time?

I haven't had any experiences with any of my jars breaking after being used before, but I used to do alot of canning (in my younger years) with the mason jars. I used those jars over and over through the years. Never had a problem with them breaking because of being used before.

I got an 11 lb slab of J225 about 2 weeks ago. Just got around to trying it this weekend. I agree that the colors aren't as bright and it does have a creamy look to it, more so that the J223 I think.

Started test burning on Monday. I used the same wicks as I would in the J223 and at first I thought that it was going to have to be wicked up, but it seems to have caught up now. I have burned my 6 and 8 oz jars for 15 hours so far. Haven't noticed any wet spots yet. But it is still early.

I need to make a candle gift basket. I have some of the Dollar Tree baskets. You know, the ones that are kinda oval shaped. What kind of candles would you put in, and what is the best type of paper filler to use in the baskets? It seems like you have to buy alot (10 lbs) of one color, so I would like to get one or two that are very versitile.

Those would work great. That is what I use in J223.

I got about 20 of the Cozy Up warmers last Christmas, and I also have used them extensively (plus all the ones I gave my family). No one has had any problems yet.

I use a mixture of J223 and J50 for my containers. For the 10oz tumbler, the size of wick would depend if it was tall or fat. For me, I use the 44-24Z for the 8 oz mason jars (narrow mouth). If it is fatter like the square mason jars, I use a 51Z.

I just came in from a Harvest Wine Festival and one of the booths there had a shea butter lotion soap. It was made in a bar like soap, but it was shea butter lotion. He said you just rub the bar on your hands like soap. I am probably just ignorant about this because I have never made any bath products, but it looked very interesting. Does anybody know about this stuff?
