How long can you safely store fragrance oils before they start to lose their potency?

Good point about the air holes. I think that I will do it the way you suggested. I think that should work well. I'm in a little bit of a time crunch because it is an order for some people out of town who work with my mom and I'm going out there this weekend. This is the last weekend I'm traveling though because I am 35 1/2 weeks pregnant...no more long trips in cars for me. Thanks for the suggestions.

Ok, last week I made a small batch of 4 oz jar candles. My first mistake was that I did this in the middle of having the flu. Because my brain was fuzz, I used the wrong sized wicks. I am out of these jars now and they are on back order. I have a couple of orders for these so what i was thinking was for that these couple of candles could I scoop out the wax around the wick, detatch the wick, put a new tabbed wick in, pack the wax around the wick, and use a heat gun to take care of the rest.

I tried it and it seemed to work fine but i just want others opinions to see if it may have deteriorated the quality of my candle. Thanks for the help.

I picked up some candy corn scent from my regular local supplier. I have been very pleased with their scents, but I can barely smell this. Could anyone recommend a supplier that they have used this scent from and been pleased with it? Thanks.

Anyone here ever make their own molds? We want to make our own electric candle molds. My father-in-law used to make silicone molds so he knows how, but the silicone he wants to use has apparently been discontinued. Could anyone suggest a type of silicone and where they buy it from? I am 12 weeks pregnant and I will tell you what, sometimes I think that I am going to throw up because my nose is on scent overload. I have a very keen sense of smell to begin with but when I am pregnant it is just rediculous. Anyone ever had this problem and were you able to overcome it? I don't think I could stand closing my nose with a clothespin for hours. Now since the weather is nice i can really air out our work area, but even when I am at our booth at the the flea market each weekend i get such a headache. I am really hoping this will pass.

I too smell like my candles. The scent seems like it must cling to my hair because like others have said, even if i change my clothes i still smell like it. And I have noticed that when I get into the shower and get my hair wet with hot water I can really smell it then.

I am learning which colors I need to add UV inhibitor to over time. But, should I add it to every color or do you find that you have some colors you do not have to add it to?

A local supplier we use does not carry white candle dye. He makes his white candles without it. I have tried both ways and prefer the look of a dyed wite candle. I like using the liquid dyes and have been using just a cheap one. can anyone suggest a place that sells a nice white liquid dye. Thanks!

Thanks for the help. I looked it up. It is one of the cheaper ones i have found. I found them on candlesupplies.com too. When we were buying them from our craft store i think we were only paying $2.00 for them so we were hoping to stay in that price range. But, thanks again for the help.

We buy our cords for our electric candles from a craft store and they are on back order. We use ones made by Darice. We called Darice and asked them to dive us the name of another supplier in our area. They gave us the name of one but told us that they were on backorder too. We really need them so i was wondering if anyone could give me the name of a different company who makes the same thing. With Mother's day and spring craft shows coming up we are really in a bind and need them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I use Ky Glow Wax and I have been very pleased with it. I have not had any trouble with the wax melting and it really allows the light to glow through nicely. It also has a nice scent throw.

I'm actually useing OK6228 also. I'll try adding a little container wax to it and see if this helps. I don't add any additives to it either. Thanks for the help.

I have made plenty of tarts with no poblems. But, for the last 3 days they are leaving me puzzled. Once they are cooled some of them are wrinled in the middle. Not all do this. It has happened with diffrent colors and scents. Some turn out fine in the same batch of wax while others are wrinkled. Maybe they are cooling too fast? That is the only possible explanation I can come up with. What does anyone else think?

Anyone have any suggestions as to where I could find some of these. Mine is getting a hole in the side. I have looked on the net, but have not been happy with some of the ones I've seen. I'm looking for a large grubby electric mold with a thinner wall. Thanks in advance for the help.
