  1. You may want to do a search in the archives for threads about those watchmaker cases. Some people had trouble with the scents not staying contained and blending together over time. The lids just sit on top instead of screwing or snapping on so they are not airtight. Also, the edges of both the case and the tins/lids are pretty sharp. I have one, and experienced the same problems other people did. It's a shame, because they are really cute and would be perfect otherwise.

And yes, fo's containing vanilla can react with aluminum. Two of my worst offenders are Amish Harvest and Pink Sugar. (If anyone has any suggestions for preventing this, I am all ears!)

    Good luck to you!

  2. "I want you to stop posting on that Forum. I don't want to hear any more paranoid comments. Talk to your suppliers."

The only reason to even respond to this comment is incase a new person should come across this thread using the search engine down the road and think that everyone in this thread that advised you to slow down was paranoid! You have been given some VERY good and WISE advice from EXPERIENCED chandlers who were trying to HELP you. Their posts were not out of paranoia, jealousy, or deliberate attempts to discourage you. They were only trying to help you and perhaps prevent a tragedy down the road somewhere.

As for your original question, the short answer is yes, they do lose the scent over time.

  3. I use State Farm Insurance.

You may want to re-check your policy. It's my understanding that State Farm does not carry or offer product liability. My agent had me all excited that I could have a policy rider on our house insurance for less than $200 more a year, only to call me the next day with the news that he was, in fact, wrong, and that State Farm does not offer product liability...

As a Christian and preacher's wife, I can certainly relate to trusting God. I believe that He places people in our path for a reason, though. I also believe that when this happens, we would be wise to listen! There are chandlers here who have been doing this for many years and have great knowledge and expertise. Perhaps God allowed you to find this forum so that you could be told to slow down and take the time to learn from those that He has made available to you. I know you are excited, and I'm not doubting that God placed candle making on your heart; however, you need to listen to the advice of those He has placed in your path and not get ahead of yourself (and Him).

P.S. Something else to think about: As a Christian, everything we do is supposed to be as unto Him and for His glory and honor. You should want to do this to the absolute best of your ability and produce a high quality product that is safe. You can only do this if you truly know your product inside & out, backwards & forwards... you get the picture. You honestly can not do that in just a few short weeks with as many scents and sizes that you are offerring.

  4. I do think I might give these a try, but I wish they were a little bigger,do you happen to know the price of the lamp, I wish they would list their prices online. Thank you for the site and your help.:D

    Sue Ann

They are really cute, but they are small. I just measured for you and they are 4.25", not including the handle. With the handle, they are 6.5"

When you go to the site click on "wholesaler". They will send you a price list after you email them the information they need. The last price I had on the lamps were 14.95 each, minimum order of 6.

    You are very welcome!

  5. Then when I recieve the labels they don't fit that template for avery or any other label program I have.

If you have Avery Design Pro then just make your own template. It is really easy to do and is very accurate. If you do not have that program then you can go to the Avery website and download it. It is free and is a great tool to use for labels. I agree, Word is a pain in the rear to use, especially when doing round labels.

Although if you have a friend who can do them for the same price it costs you to do them yourself then I'd say go for it, lol.

  6. I'll probably try Plantlabel next time. This is just ridiculous.

Well...I order from both and Planetlabel has sent me the wrong labels twice, lol. I must say, though, that they were very quick to make it right both times. I have not had problems with Online Labels (yet). I hope you find something that will work for you.

  7. I'm assuming that it is something to be used with adult supervision, but how many would actually use it that way. I can just see a parent sending a child to bed with it so that when they get scared they can "spray the monsters away". So many people don't watch their kids as closely as they should.

We all know how well people read warnings, lol. I do injected bears and have "keep away from children and pets" all over the things and still have people wanting to buy them for their kids. Even had one mother that had bought one for herself ask if she could give it to her baby to play with once the scent was gone :shocked2: When I explained to her why that was a bad idea and that that was the reason I had "KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN AND PETS" on the warning label, she said "Oh, I never even bothered to read that." :rolleyes2

Well I don't make it, but I would assume part of the warning would be "keep away from children and pets". I thought it was something that the adult would control, THEY would spray it for the child. Am I wrong? I'd never let a child take control of something like that.
  8. Ok, I first saw this product several months ago and since then I still have the same question/concern. This is a product for kids, right? Well what happens if they 1) spray it in their eyes 2) spray it in their mouths or worse, drink it 3) get it on their hands and rub their eyes, or 4) any numerous things that children do??? I do not mean any disrespect at all - the concept is very cute. I just have concerns as to the safety of this. Guess it's the momma coming out in me :undecided

  9. Can someone tell me what the ph of Monoi is.

Also, for those that use it in your hair. Can you please tell me what kind of hair you have. Mine is fine and straight. Easily damaged. I'd hate to put a product on my hair that wouldn't be good for it.

Carrie, I have very fine and straight hair that is prone to splitting. The Monoi has been very healing for it. I instantly saw a difference. I have read where people use it as a "hot oil" type of treatment but have not tried that yet myself. I may be wrong (someone please correct me if I am) but isn't Monoi basically coconut oil with the Tiare flower extract? I have always been told that coconut oil was very good for the hair...but again, I could be mis-informed.

  10. mommyof1 how exactly are you using it in your hair? Straight nothing else added? in a spray bottle? Put it on for an hour before washing hair or like a leave in conditioner?

After I wash my hair I apply a tiny (and I do mean TINY or else you'll have a greasy mess!) amount to my wet hair then blow dry it as usual. Have you ever used BioSilk, or Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum, or Infusium 23? They are smoothing/anti-frizz/shine enhancing conditioners. I use the Monoi exactly like these products would be used. Only I use much less of the Monoi and it works so much better than anything else I have tried. It leaves my hair soft & shiny and makes it very easy to style. Plus it smells great, lol.

  11. Thanks AJ :) Yes that makes sense. I actually designed a website from scratch and added the Mal's shopping cart with no problems (haven't tried paypal's though). I just am not satisfied with it and want a more "professional" look, hence, the reason for looking at pre-designed templates. I was just curious as to if a cart could be added to one of these templates or if the designers code it in such a way that only certain content type can be added. I don't know how much customizing one can do with a template. I hope that makes more sense to you than it does to me trying to say it, lol. Sorry - it's late!

  12. Has anyone purchased a FP template and designed their website this way before? I have been looking at them for awhile now but am wondering just how easy (or not, lol) they are to use. Also, can a shopping cart be added to them or would a person need to purchase a template that is already designed for a shopping cart? I am seeing them both ways. Any thoughts or opinions? Thanks!!

  13. Just tried KY's blueberry and it isn't what I was looking for. Smelled more like candy to me. Want a real berry smell.

Yeah, I didn't think it smelled like a real blueberry smell either. Wasn't quite sure what it smelled like to me, but there is a "sweetness" to it. I might have to try CC's... just not really wanting to add yet another supplier, lol

  14. I have been using Blueberry Burst from KY. Personally, I do not think it smells "true" but those who requested a good blueberry fell in love with it. They preferred KY's over BCN's Blueberry. I never tried the Blueberry Patch as I did not think it would be what they were looking for.

  15. I use the one from BNL and it is great, bittercreek in now carrying that line.

Yes, but unfortunately that one was not listed in their newsletter of scents that they added. Neither was the Persimmon Spice or Plumeria (two more scents of BnL's that were awesome!) I think I did read somewhere, though, that they would be adding more later, so maybe there's still hope.

  16. Tranquil Tropics was the one BNL had

And, unfortunately, it did not smell like Hawaiian Tropic to my nose. TC's Beachin did not smell like it either but was closer. TC also has a Dark Tanning Oil that smells the closest to Hawaiian Tropic that I have found but still is not quite "IT". Beachin is a very nice tropical scent, though.

  17. This is definitely a very "tart" scent to me, smells a lot like Hummingbird from NG. Must be the Kiwi.

It is a very tart scent, but I do not think it smells like Hummingbird at all. Hummingbird is much softer and has a "sweetness" to it. It is a very pretty scent, just a different beast than the J.P. The Japanese Plum is very bold and is "run you out of the house" strong, at least to my nose.
