  1. For some reason it is cinnamon for me. Which Spiced Cranberry has. Thats why I was surprised. It really sucks not to be able to smell your own candles when others think they are awesome. I only seem to be able to smell them when I first light and melt pool gets going. Then the candlenose kicks in. People come in and say, wow that candle smells great, so I know it is throwing good. I can really smell Autumn Spice from BCN, which a lot say is a weak scent. Has a lot of clove and orange scent and that one is so strong for me. I can smell my tarts a little better, wickless are about the same as wicked candles as far as my nose goes.

  2. I guess I really messed that one up. Spiced Cranberry and Pink Sugar. And 1 oz FO per lb of wax is all that is needed. They have a 13 oz sampler pack where you pick the FO's for a good price. I'm going to order that so I can try more scents.

  3. I have only ordered a couple from BCN, but I do plan on using them exclusively. I love the Ezsoy. If you read their board, there are FOs that are frequently mentioned as "favorites

  4. Made Ezsoy candles for X-mas gifts using BCN FOs. I didn't think my candles had a very good hot throw after 3 weeks curing. But, I gave them as gifts anyway. I was finally able to smell the hot throw after 5 weeks curing. Everyone I gave the candles to commented on how strong they threw, and they loved them. Well, I just returned from vacation for a week. When I walked into my house, all I could smell was Spiced Cranberry candles. There were only 3- 8 oz jelly jar candles (not burning of course) in my house, in different rooms. The lids were off the candles. I could not believe they could scent my house just with a cold throw. I guess my sinuses are worse than I thought. I guess I will stick with Ezsoy and BCN.

  5. I thought about those too. I love the Ball Elite jars, but they are a little pricey. Do you fill the 1/2 pints all the way? I have just found from experience that I get just as much scent from 4 oz of wax as I do 8 oz. But, I don't sell. It is probably more cost effective if selling to make 8 oz wickless, because the jars are the same price for 4 oz jj or the 1/2 pints and you can charge more for 8 oz. Also, have you ever timed your wickless to see how long the scent lasts? Maybe 8 oz would make the scent last longer? I am still in testing stage.

  6. Why would you want to add paraffin to soy? I know soy can be a pain. But isn't the whole reason for soy candles is that they are natural and don't contain parraffin? I just started a few months ago with Ezsoy. I wasn't getting a hot throw after 2 weeks of curing. For some reason, my candles needed 6 weeks and I get a terrific hot throw. To me, it is worth the wait. I also found that 1 oz per lb of FO gives a stronger throw than using 1.5 oz per lb. I have no idea why it takes so long for my candles to cure. But when they do, it is well worth the wait.

  7. I like to give wickless as gifts and use myself. What I have been doing is using the metal scalloped floater candle molds without wicking. I think they are about 2 oz. To save on containers, I just make these and put a couple into a short wide container and put this on warmer. When the scent is lost, I pop container in the freezer and take the wax out. This way I only have to store the "large tarts" and not all these containers. I think I'll do this for gifts next Christmas. Give them a couple of containers, a candle warmer and several floaters. I have reused jars on candle warmers and have never had one crack. This way I can give more candle without having to spend money on all the containers.

  8. It was really strong. It was some kind of hazelnut truffle. Its hard to believe the price was so low for a 16 oz candle. It wasn't soy of course. Even though it was strong, it smelled so different from my strong soy candles. Like an artificial smell. Soy candles smell so natural. Has anyone else noticed this? I admit, the better quality parraffin, like Village and Yankee do smell really good. I was almost tempted to buy one of these candles just to see what the hot throw was like. It is really hard to find soy candles in my area.

    That is why I started making my own.

  9. I think it would take me at least a year to be ready to sell, and I have no intention of doing that. I use soy though, and I think there is more testing with those. If her candles smell as good as competitors already, she is lucky at such an early stage. I suppose it is possible to make a good quality candle from the start by reading the message boards. Everything you need to know is somewhere on the boards. But I wouldn't think of selling a candle that I did not test the wicking in each batch of wax and FO I ordered. Noone wants to buy a candle that burns too fast or not completely. Since I give them as gifts, I don't mind a little hang up on one side, I have bought candles that had more. My candles smell great, burn good and I am having fun making them.

  10. I just went back and read the post (at BC site). She didn't say what temp she adds dye and FO, but that she pours right away after adding these. I think I would still add dye and FO at least 170 or a little higher and maybe pour it right away. I know a lot of people who use soy and also parrafin add their FO at 180 or 185. They say it incorporates the FO better. I haven't used the Ecosoya yet. What pouring temp does it say for that? I know with Ezsoy I have to pour slushy or I get major frosting. Is frosting an issue with the Ecosoya? I would try pouring both ways and see which makes a better looking tart.

  11. I made tarts with Ezsoy using 1.5 FO per lb and 1.25 per lb. They smell great, but only for a few hours. Then they lose scent. I am using a t-light tart burner, which may be burning too hot. Do you use 1 oz per lb in your tarts and still get good throw? I don't know if my problem is too much FO or the burner itself. I have bought tarts, and the scent has lasted much longer, at least a few days. Any suggestions, especially if you use the t-light burners?
