  1. Thanks :)

I've got something posted up right now about changes with more information to follow. Right now my customers are all local. I only have 3 that actually use the website.. the others just call and don't even bother with the site.

In Jan. I was going to close the current site without a redirect and with an explaination of what is going on and a link to the new store. Then a few weeks afterwards, do the redirect. I'm actually very happy that my customer base is local and I know them well, so they will understand. Otherwise I would be very very worried if this change would be the death of my business. So I am excited to be doing it now and not later. :)

Thank you very much for your advice :)

  2. So.. its a few days before Christmas and if I were already pulling my hair out, I went and made it worse.

Its been almost a year since I legally became a business in my state. The name I picked was sort of rushed and I started off as all natural. I did my first show and was so upset that the people in my area didn't go for the more natural things, they wanted everything smelly.. and lots of it. So I gave in. I ordered more fo's and everything else that went along with it that I could think of. Well.. shortly after that I came across another company that was named the same as mine, with a one letter spelling difference. Ever since then, I haven't been happy and my heart really hasn't been into it.

So... my new years resolution was to turn things around. I started with researching a new name. It reflects what I originally wanted. I'm going to do exactly what I wanted to do in the first place. No 'soap company' in the name.. no color specified in the name. I'm thrilled.. I've already called the Revenue office, local licensing office and my bank. So everything on that end is going to be set when I renew in Feb. Working on the new site already and will let customers know of the change next month, then automatically set current site to redirect after that....

So I guess I'm curious about those that have done this before? Any steps I maybe missing or even just some advice so I come out with all my hair? I just can't say how happy and relieved I feel about doing this. I just don't want to miss something along the way.

Thanks for listening, or reading that is. :wink2:

  3. I had this problem my first round of tins and decided to not even work with tins anymore. Now.. I've gone and bought tins again along with a jar of mod podge. Whats the freaking trick to getting this to stay on the tins? I just tried to brush a layer on the inside of the tin and while it goes on smooth.. it ended up doing what I think looks like a spiderweb. I've never used this stuff before so any help would really be appreciated :)

  4. Well actually Melissa, I just started to make them and won't be selling them till my holiday craft shows. But I figured it cost me 3.30 to make the 4 oz bottle and 2.57 for the 2 1/2 oz bottle. I am using aluminum bottles and cyclo and that really brings the cost up. I'm just going to see what the public will pay. May have to lower my price if I see they don't sell.

oh! I thought you were making water based :D

I bought a gallon of cyclo before I figured what it would cost me to make haha.. then did the costs and figured I'd scratch that and use it for body sprays or something. :)

  5. shea butter, whether straight or whipped.. with added oils or not, is going to be greasy if you use the same amount as you would a lotion or cream. Even starches that help to deter the oily feeling, its still there a bit. Use a small dab and see if that helps the feeling and sinks in better.

I checked out the Body Shops website and they have the ingredients listed for their butters.. Its actually a cream. :undecided

    here are their ingredients:

Water, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Cyclomethicone, Glycerin, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Lanolin Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Butter, Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Fruit Extract, Methylparaben, Fragrance, Propylparaben, Xanthan Gum, Tocopherol, Benzyl Alcohol, Disodium EDTA, Linalool, Denatonium Benzoate, Citral, Limonene, Caramel, Red 4.

    hth! :)

  6. I might have this in the wrong place.. sorry if the mods have to move it :)

I've been playing phone tag with fairway glass today. When I call.. the person that knows what I need isn't there.. they call back and I'm not here.

Anyway.. if anyone here buys their frosted 11 oz tumblers, could you please tell me what you pay and if there are minimums? They don't have the frosted prices on their site.

    Thanks for any help!

    Melissa

  7. Right now I have a cell phone that I use for business. I get some personal calls on it but it is just family that has the number other than customers. My voice mail is personalised to my business and I find it extremely helpful. I was thinking about getting the Vonage business line early next year because it costs the same as my home line with verizon. Then I could have 2 lines (one for personal other for business) and a fax line. :grin2:

  8. I use full sheet labels for everything and cut to size. I didn't want to get into buying different sizes. After a while it sort of becomes routine like and the cutting time goes by fast. I use a small rotary scrapbook cutter. Looking at getting one of the round cutters to make some circle labels. :)
