  1. I am trying to find a black glass jar to pour our container candles in. I believe it would be about 7 ounces. It is just a jar, no lid or anything special. It is listed as a black glass container. I have tried every search engine I know and I am coming up with nothing! Has anyone seen a black glass jar like I am describing? I know it exists because I have been able to find candles to purchase in the jar but not the jar itself. Any help you could give would be really appreciated!

    Thanks,

  2. I spoke with one of my suppliers yesterday and he mentioned the Creme Brulee scent was going to be re-formulated. It appears the same product found in the buttery popcorn that causes cancer is used in Creme Brulee. He said they have received the new scent and it still smells really good it just is not as buttery as before. Anyone else heard of this???

  3. Well,

To answer the question above, it was not a sample - she purchased the candle. I visited her business Friday evening and replaced her candle with another cinnamon candle from a previous pour. Again, I had previously tested this batch of candles and know this candle smells like cinnamon and burns correctly. Fast forward to yesterday...I visited her business again to just check and see and again she complains says it stinks and does not smell like cinnamon. So, I gave her a candy cane candle to replace it. I brought the cinnamon candle home and tested it for myself. The candle burns and smells like cinnamon - just like the first one I brought home from her. If she is not satisfied with the candy cane candle, I am done. I don't know what else to do. Thank you to all those who posted helpful comments above.

  4. I have been making container candles for 4 years and always test everything!! I sold a cinnamon candle on Friday to a jeweler who was interested in carrying our candles in his store. Well, I called to check on things today and his wife says..."at first it smelled real good but now it just smells like wax." Now, I know my candles smell and smell yummy other candles from the same batch in which she purchased smell and burn great. I of course offered to bring her another candle ASAP - but my question is ...How should I have responded? Our cinnamon stick candles are one of my least favorite candle because it smells so strong (hot and cold). It is very hard for me to burn it in my home for very long. Until I actually see the candle I can't give any more information. I plan to see her this afternoon to carry her a new candle. Any advise you could give would be greatly appreciated - as this has never happened to me before.

  5. Hello All!!

I just wanted to post and let you all know about my experience Sunday afternoon with an Open House/Home Party. I have never done home parties or candle parties before but one of my friends put an interesting twist on hers. She has a brand new home and she sells Arbonne. Instead of having a strictly Arbonne open house she included a lady selling jewelry, a lady selling pampered chef and myself. She gave each of us invitations to hand out to our friends. It went great in my opinion, I sold about $180 worth and was only there 3 hours. As a result I have another one booked for November 18th. I believe the pampered chef rep did well too as did my friend with Arbonne - I don't know about the jewelry rep as she was in a different room. Just an idea that worked for us and hopefully it might work for some of you all.

  6. Thank you so much for the positive replies. Yes on the bright side I have extra chunks already made up! I have had a little time to reflect and they are really pretty and smell yummy - my customers will love them and they will never know my oversight:D Besides, that is just another mistake I won't (or I guess I should say shouldn't) ever make again!!! Lesson learned!

    Again, thanks for the replies.

  7. Can someone tell me why I must insist on changing things that worked okay up until today??? I have been making chunk candles forever and for some reason I chose today to change my process!! I usually use about 3.33 pounds of wax as my chunks - but by mistake last time I had a chunk sticking out of the top of my white wax and it looked awesome. I test burned the candle and all went great so I decided to make more chunks for the candles I was set to pour today - well, my brain wasn't thinking and here I am - too many chunks and not enough white wax to pour on top!!! Normally I would have more scent and would just melt a little more wax and scent it - no problem! But you guessed it no more scent in stock!!! Thanks for listening - I just needed to vent a little at myself!:cry2:

I must say the ones I did finish sure are pretty!:cheesy2: Next time I will remember not so many chunks!!!

    (BTW I make container candles)

    Kimmi -

  8. My heat gun has 2 settings as well and I really like it. I am really picky about the whole candle making process - which carries on to my heat gun. I make sure as soon as I am finished using the heat gun I unplug it. It stays laying flat on a heat resistant surface and it is not put away until it is completely cool. (Usually it is the last thing I put away after I clean up my work area and by then it is cool.) I agree with the post above that everything in the candlemaking process is indeed a fire hazard but if you treat it as you would the entire process of making your candles it should not be a problem. I have been making candles for about 4 years now and I have only had the heat gun for the past year. I don't know how I got by without it!! HTH

  9. I use igi 6006 and really love it...however, I do not get my wax from bcn, (I have family from Texas and they always bring me loads of wax when they come to see us, and that really saves on shipping!!!)

As far as BCN, I can tell you I have had excellent customer service from them. I use some of their scents and wicks and anytime I have had a question they are always very prompt and helpful! HTH

  10. This is an old thread but wanted to ask.. Where did you get your candy cane? Have tried many and still don't like them. Yet have smelled several in the stores I like. Maybe this will be one I haven't tried.

    Sharon,

Sorry I didn't see this sooner...I get my candy cane from Wix n Wax in Texas. Great people - great scent!

  11. I love peppermint! I just made a huge pour of red chunks covered in white in an apothecary jar and it looks beautiful. I really like how it looks after it burns a little while. So, I guess I like it for 2 reasons- first the smell and second how beautiful it looks while it is burning!!!:yay:
