I never made a lemon twist myself, but here's how I would try to do it.... melt some paraffin or soy, color and scent how you want it, and pour a thin layer into a jelly pan. When warm but will hold it's shape if you pick it up, slice it into strips, and try delicately molding a strip over a pen or similar shaped object to get a "twist". Don't know if this would work, but may be worth a shot :rolleyes2

Thanks, sorry I had to ask -- I'm still kind of a newbie here

sorry...I don't recognize the abbreviation. What does JBN stand for?

That's a really neat pic, thanks for sharing . What kind of palm wax did you use -- I know candlewic uses the terms "palm 1", "palm 2" and "palm 3" but I don't know whether that's just for them or whether all palm suppliers use those terms to identify the type of wax. But I know there's "feathered" and "crystallized" for pillars.
Thanks

I am in NH. I mainly use palm wax for pillars and votives, so I would be interested in learning more about how you achieved the snakeskin effect, if you would be willing to share .

Hi everyone,
I love Candle Science's selection of waxes, in particular palm, but they seem to be out of everything I'm interested in. When I emailed them, they said they are expecting shipments from India within the next couple of weeks. But... I'm looking to get some palm wax a little more quickly than that .
CS carries a palm wax I've never heard of before (which they are out of), which produces a "tortoise shell" effect on the candle. This really intrigues me and I'd love to order some.... does anyone know another supplier for this?
I make candles on a somewhat small scale, so I don't need 50# of wax right now... so ideally a supplier with no minimum order quantity requirement.
Thank you!

Hi everyone,
I just joined this forum, and everyone's talents and advice have already been helpful. However, I have a question that I hope someone can answer.
How do you do layers that are slanted? I would like to experiment and try some candles like the "rustic" layered candles that I saw in the gallery...some beautiful candles there! I guess I'm asking, do you lean the mold up against something to produce these effects, do you hold the mold in a slanted direction yourself? I'm completely confused by how people do these candles, and they are so pretty!
I have been making candles for a few years, mainly palm and soy, but usually do straight one on top of the other layers, or solid colors.
Please enlighten me if you can
Thanks!
What is the best container from which to pour gel?

Does anyone use a different type of container other than the aluminum pots that are sold in every craft store and online candle supply site? I use these as well, but find that the spout (or lip I should say) isn't big enough and that the wax drips down the pot iteself as I pour. Very messy. Any tips, tricks, or different container suggestions?
