  1. I grabbed a few at the dollar store to try out. At first I tried cd10 wicks, and they tunneled. Then cd12 and the flame was sky high with soot everywhere lol! Switched to wooden wicks that I know like the back of my hand, and it’s perfect! The mug isn’t even as hot as coffee after 4 hours burn time. Gonna power burn tomorrow and see what we get. Funny enough, I went to the thrift stores today just to look around. Mugs were $1.99 vs the $1 at Dollar General and Dollar Tree. And they were all really ugly lol! So I’ll definitely stick with new, and likely go the camping mug route. I happened to find these little espresso mugs, and thought they were adorable. They hold close to 2 oz of wax, which I thought was just too cute! I’m gonna burn it tomorrow and see how it does

I feel for you. I have a storage room filled with “great ideas” that didn’t quite pan out as hoped. 🤪🤷🏻‍♀️

the beads were helpful to send fragrance samples to people. I still have a bit left, but prefer salt or vermiculite when I can find it. I’ve been actively trying to eliminate plastic use in my shop and love biodegradable alternatives.

I bet in a sachet they would be nice. Or in a glass Christmas ornament. How fun to shake and watch the little beads roll around!

One air freshener I remember fondly was a pretty paper envelope, maybe 6”x10”. It was sold at a fall apple orchard store, and held a lovely scented product. Turns out it was just fragrance captured in vermiculite. It was enough to push me into a scented product quest.  Since then, aroma beads came onto the market, and corn cob litter. All do the same thing and do it well in their own ways.

I was thinking of doing to corn cob litter. Maybe. I need to calm down on all my projects lol

This happens EVERY time! The seemingly  simplest things are the biggest pains. Often, these types of products bring the least overall profit also, so a double whammy 😂

Yeah, I’m pretty much over the whole aroma beads thing. I highly doubt it’s something I would continue to do. I do have some beads I need to sell now lol

Welcome to the freshie side of this addiction! I am so sick of making them and yet I keep buying new molds. I had four drawers FULL of cookie cutters and gave a ton of those away to a young girl that just started because I never used them. I still have two drawers full and now a drawer full of silicone molds. It just makes such a huge mess in my kitchen and I am not a tidy crafter at all! I'm really bad about leaving everything out thinking I'm going to get in there and make stuff so why put it all up and then it sits for days LOL! My wax room is overflowing with wax molds, wax, oils and freshener supplies. I'm slowly going through and throwing stuff away or giving it away  that I haven't used or don't think I ever will use.

Not sure what you're soaking your beads in but I use those plastic jugs from Dollar tree. They're great! I hated the glass mason jars and for years had soaked my beads in polypro bags but got tired of those. These jugs have an indention on the sides and make it easy to grasp them and shake. Also, where are you getting your beads? Places that have good beads are Crimson, Plastic Pellets 4 Fun, Buy It Ship It, Stay Fresh With Peanut, Lone Star and Nature's Gardens all have the small beads.   . Aztec beads and Cajun and AAA are a bigger bead and take longer to soak but they do work ok. I just prefer the smaller beads. Just wanted to throw that out there for you since you just started.

It’s actually funny, I never really gave them much thought but my friend asked me if I could make some as door prizes for a benefit she’s doing. I thought, sure! Simple enough right? LOL! I bought the beads from crimson, and I think they are pretty good. My friend wanted highland cows, so I grabbed their mold too. That this is a downright B to use for your first ever freshie experience haha!!!

Yes, his willingness to correct mistakes is a good thing, especially since his manner is quite rough. I just chalk it up to someone that is just very outspoken and doesn't get their feelings hurt very easy so they don't think about how they come across to others that do. I have friends like that and I just have to realize they don't wear their feelings on their shoulders so they don't understand how their boldness can be a little offensive LOL!

What is Mercari? I've honestly been thinking I need to sell off most of my samples so I can buy some more LOL! I really need to take the time to do that. There are groups on Facebook that I can post them in. There's also a section on here for that.

Mercari is just another selling platform like eBay and stuff. Their fees can be kinda hefty, so if you can sell on Facebook or elsewhere it’s probably better off

I know what you mean about the oils. I have never counted mine but I would feel safe in saying I'm on the high end of that many as well if not more. I have samples running out the wazoo that I really need to get rid of but I keep thinking I'll use them but I never do.

Jim from Texas Candle Supply is very rude at times and I can see why people don't want to deal with him but he's always made any mistake right that I've ever had. I'm not far from him but I still would rather pay shipping than to have to talk to him over the phone LOL!  He has some good oils if you like the western themed stuff which goes well here in Texas. Even though I'm a born and raised Texan I don't care for much of that type of scent but my customers do unfortunately LOL! I wish more liked what I like which is banana nut bread and sugar cookie!

At least he’s willing to correct mistakes, that’s a big one! I honestly just made a few different bundles of my sample oils that I either just flat out didn’t like or knew I wouldn’t use and placed them on Mercari. I priced them at $2 an ounce, and they all sold In less than 10 minutes. Recovered some money, and made some room lol! Maybe try that out :) I did about 5 bottles per bundle.

Let me know how you like their wax. I've ordered a few bottles of Fo from them and from what I can remember I liked them ok. I've just not ordered enough to have used much. I was more after leather that soaked up in aroma beads well but I'm sick of making those things.

Lol! I actually just started making aroma beads. For what seems like a simple process, these things are pretty tedious! The wax I got is great! Absolutely amazing one pour in my wood wick candles, and excellent in clamshells as well. I’m so glad to have 1 wax that can cover both, instead of 2 completely different waxes. Testing of both melts and candles have been perfect! The wax can also hold 15% FO, but I still only use 10%. I feel like anything over that is overkill, really. The wax I got is the CW5170S I think

@VELMA21 I haven't ordered from them yet , let me know what your think of the scents

Ok, I just made a $215 order LOL! I’m actually going to try out one of their waxes that I can supposedly make tarts and container candles out of. It’s a 70 paraffin 30 soy blend. Has a 15% fragrance load, not that I would ever really use that much. I’m really excited about that wax, and I hope it’s comparable or better than pillar of bliss and joy wax that I normally use. Being able to pickup is going to save me so much freaking money on shipping. I can lower my prices and become ultra competitive if the wax performs the way I want it to. Fingers crossed!

Crimson Candle Supply does not use the same fragrance as Maple Street.  Their fragrances aren't even close to the same.  Crimson blends about 30% of their own fragrances and the other 70% they have specially blended for them only.  When a perfumer does a special blend it cannot be sold to any other supplier.  If you call and talk to them the owners are very knowledgeable about their blends and are super nice people. I spent some time on the phone with one of them asking a lot of questions.  Charlie from Maple Street cannot possibly even know where another supplier buys their fragrances from he can only speak for himself.  Even if it did come from the same mfg, that particular mfg has 100 variants of the same exact fragrances in different price ranges so what are the chances they would even be the same.  And he is mostly full of hot air.  I personally know for a fact that their fragrances aren't even close to the same.  I've tried both.

Ok, I want to know how in the heck I’ve never heard of Crimson Candle supply WHEN THEY ARE LITERALLY IN MY TOWN!!! LOL! which fragrances did you like from there? I’m excited to do a pick up order now haha!

  10. Have you ever had a scent that just makes you sick??? I had a customer ask me for Ancient Sedona from Brambleberry for soap for her husband. I had seen it before, and was kind of curious about it. I was ordering a cool mold they had that I wanted anyways, so I threw it on there. Never. Again. This fragrance will forever haunt me. It was so disgusting, and I just kept smelling it throughout my whole house. It’s 1:30 am, and I got up out of bed to take the soap bars out to the trash bin way down at the curb. I hope I never ever ever smell this scent again!! YUCK!!!! I was quickly reminded of why I do not care for Brambleberry fragrances. They just totally miss the mark every single time for me. Anybody else try this disaster of a scent? Lol

Natures Fragrance has sugared apple. I would think it's every bit as good as MS. I haven't received an oil from NF that wasn't a good one.

I quit ordering from Maple Street a few years ago but then placed a small order with them recently after seeing a couple of dupes they had that I hadn't seen anywhere else and wanted to try. After reading this about what happened to your friend I won't be ordering from them anymore. That's just entirely uncalled for and their oils are nothing special.

That’s how I felt about it too. I liked them because they were fast and cheap, but certainly not unique in the least little bit. I’ll have to try Nature’s Fragrance, I’ve never ordered from them before. I really don’t have any business ordering anything else for a good while LOL! I did a full inventory of my oils and samples today, and let’s just say I’m on the higher end of 300. I have zero plans for 95% of them either Lol! I have also recently learned that Texas (Texan?) candle supply is extremely abusive to their customers as well. Never ordered from them, but that’s another on my do not order list

Let's hope that person got fired. I have paypal but never ever realized they have it for 4 payments. This is exciting lol definitely going to use that.  And going to check out the sugared apple. Sounds really good.. Ty 💐

Careful, pretty soon you’ll have several pay in 4 plans open like I do LOL!!!!

Thats to bad. It stinks when you have a problem like that. No company should treat customers that way, they should be happy and grateful for every customer. Their fragrance smell good and yes can find those scents anywhere. I like them because they have sezzle so when placing an order it can be split up with 4 payments so it doesn't hurt so bad lol. New york scents has sezzle also, the only 2 I could find. Well thanks for sharing. 💖 I hope i don't need customer service. 😪

I know, it’s really unfortunate because they were always fast and simple to order from. I told her they were probably super stressed out after their sample sale lol! I know I shouldn’t be like that, because they’ve never done anything personally to me. I just can’t get over how downright ugly they were to her. It’s actually really alarming some of the things that were said, especially on PayPal because PayPal can see all of that. And I love Sezzle too! Do you have PayPal? Start using the PayPal pay in 4! It’s basically the same as sezzle, and you can use it almost anywhere! I buy from WSP and Nature’s Garden with it too. I did use it for Maple Street and New York Scent even. You can use it a ton of places, so check it out for sure! Oh, and I definitely highly recommend the Sugared Apple from Maple Street! It is so good, and customers love it!

I love maple street candle, can I ask what changed your mind about them. Thanks.

A very good friend of mine reached out to their customer service after not receiving a few of the samples she ordered during the sample sale at the end of June. Customer service got extremely irate with her, to the point of calling her names and threatening her. She never once got out of line with this person, but they went all out on her. The bad part is, they didn’t even try to help her either. Just deleted her account, and left it at that. This order was well over $200, and she was missing around 10 samples. She had no way to contact them since they deleted her account, so she had to file a dispute with PayPal. The verbal tirade got so bad on there, she had to escalate it to PayPal so they could no longer talk to her. I have never had that experience with them before, but never had to use customer service either. I’ve been candle making for 20 plus years now, and have never seen a supplier get so nasty over a simple inquiry. And they were even in the wrong, because they admitted to PayPal they forgot to send the samples! When she showed me the screenshots, I was blown away by how downright nasty this person was to her. For no reason whatsoever, after a polite inquiry. I don’t do business with abusers, and I am scared to know how they treat their employees! Their fragrances are good, but they are hardly unique IMO. It took me less than a minute to find comparable, if not better, replacements for my sellers by them. Just this one I haven’t looked around much for. Hopefully you never need customer service, or if you do; I hope you don’t get “Sam”

  15. I did this last year, and made “jelly” skulls for Halloween. I’m going to be honest, it turned out to be pretty messy. I used Love Spell fragrance oil, and it was so strong it made me sick. I still have yet to use Love Spell in anything since. I don’t think I’ll ever use that scent again, that’s how much it ruined it for me lol!

  16. Anybody have a good supplier for Sugared Apple? I absolutely refuse to do business with Maple Street anymore. The only scent of theirs that I haven’t found a replacement for is Sugared Apple. Any suggestions?
