I have several bars of lye soap my Grandma made over 40 years ago. They're large thick chunks, colored a dark yellowish orange. I'm sure the color is from the age of the soap. I remember seeing them boxed up in one of her unused bedrooms and wondered WTH? She told me she made that soap before I was born (be 43 in June) and I could have them if I wanted. I have them wrapped up in plastic and displayed in a basket in my kitchen. I think about her everytime I see that basket.

I thought so but, wanted to be sure.
Thanks Scented. By the way I just love your avatar. I just have to grin everytime I see it

Ok this may sound duh, but I'm interested in the Tester/Testee Program and I was wondering what a CT name would be? I'm just learning how to make candles and would love to have someone that's in the know give me some pointers. I'm a willing student and can take constructive criticism, I don't get mad or defensive unlike an earlier post I read today.

I'm not selling my candles yet.... I'm still in the learning/testing stage. I've seen a lot of beautiful candles there and was wondering if anyone on this board was selling there. I live in Red Springs, TX which is a short drive to Tyler and not too far from Canton. My DH and I like to go and check it out, we might find something we can't live without... you never know. I think the soaps and bath products would sell like hot cakes JMO.

Does anyone on here sell anything at First Monday Trade's Day in Canton, TX? Just wondering....

I'm looking for a certain Carnation scent... Has anyone ever smelled Pennington's and Bath Carnation Hand and Body Cream or Asquith & Somerset Carnation soap? Does anyone know how to mix an FO to dupe that? My mom loves that scent but I can't find a carnation FO to match it and since Mother's Day is coming soon I'd really love to make her a candle and maybe some Body Cream. Can anyone help me?

I like the strawberry shortcake. Haven't tried any other strawberry, but am willing to give it a shot.

looks delish... If I hadn't seen the wick I'd swear it was a real cheesecake. Great job!

I've heard of Red Springs, I'm in Texarkana. I haven't used Starrville as a supplier in a long time. Some one mentioned Cajun's honeysuckle--they have awesome florals! I use quite a few of theirs.

I used to live in Texarkana! I lived right on Stateline on the Texas side of course. That was nearly 15 years ago. lol... I never could get used to that papermill smell. PEEYEW!! I went to Starrville today to get a few 1 oz FO's to sample..... I'll wait until the next payday to order some samples from Peaks. I'll also try Cajuns, Candles and Supplies and the others mentioned on here. I found some bluebonnet, strawberry shortcake, and blackberry to try. My daughter talked me into getting butt naked and sex on the beach... I'll have to admit they do smell good.

I think I know what odd smell you are talking about. To me, it smells like moth balls, lol. I have to agree with bluegrass-wild honeysuckle-
Saw that you were from E Texas, me too, what area?
Pam R
I live in Red Springs, and I work in Tyler at ETMC. What area of E Texas are you from? I go to Starrville in Tyler to pick up my supplies, but I think I want to order some sample FO's from different companies to compare. I really need to get away from the florals and try something different.... maybe butt naked or sex on the beach? I sniffed Monkey Farts at Starrville... it sorta smelled like a carnival to me. lol Do you have any suggestions on what I should try?

Thank you so much for your responses. I think that I'll order some samples from Peaks and just try out their honeysuckle. I'd like to try something besides florals, although I tend to gravitate towards them. I just love a good smelling flower. If anyone has any suggestions...

Scented... I love your cat avatar. I smile and giggle everytime I see it. How cute!

Thank you Angela. I'll try Peaks. I live close to Tyler, TX so I've been getting my supplies from Starrville. I just started making container candles a couple of weeks ago and I'm still getting my feet wet so to speak.

I'm seeking a honeysuckle FO that doesn't have that odd smell to it. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? It's hard to describe, but the one I have has a weird smell to it and not much of a honeysuckle scent. Also I'd like to find a good carnation FO. If anyone can help me I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

very nice! Love the labels. Did you do them yourself? I've been working on some labels for my containers, but I haven't been able to do any that looks that good. Great job!
