  1. I did not quote a price. I am actually not going to get involved in the sale at all... I will give him your website/email address if you are interested and you can take it from there, if you hear from him.

As I said, he's looking for unscented 6in, 9in and 12in pillars, 10 each of these 3 sizes = 30 altogether. He may be willing to do 3in, 6in and 9in instead. Those are all the details I have.

    Thanks!

  2. I was asked to make pillars for a wedding in October. The customer wants 30 pillars altogether: 10 each of 6in, 9in and 12in (or close to these sizes, willing to do 3,6 and 9). They want unscented, in simple colors like red, pink and white. I don't do the tall pillars and am not interested in buying the molds/testing right now.

If you are interested, please PM me. I can put you in touch with the customer directly and you can take it from there! If I get multiple responses I will send them all to him and it'll be up to him to contact you.

    Thanks!

  3. I use a soy-para blend. I was using Production Single Pour from Candles and Supplies, straight which was already a soy-para blend, but had problems with frosting and cracking, no matter what temp I poured. I tested blending it 50/50 with several paraffins and settled on IGI Harmony Blend. I absolutely love it for everything: cold throw, hot throw, little or no wetspots, etc. And it burns beautifully.

    HTH!

  4. Of the ones on sale, I regularly stock these:

Bayberry (always get requests for this)

Grandma's Kitchen (smells like apple streudel in my opinion, kind of sweet)

    Mulberry (excellent, very strong)

Orange (I mix with just a little bit of ginger and always get lots of requests)

    Pine Needle

Sugar Cookie (I mix with a little bit of cinnamon spice FO for a Christmas Cookie type of scent)

    HTH

  5. I use Candles and Supplies almost exclusively because they are a 20min drive for me and I save on shipping. I agree that their customer service is inconsistent. I have had orders disappear into oblivion, and 5 out of 10 orders have a mistake when I pick up. I attribute it to rapid growth in the last 5 years and probably not enough time to train the staff the way Cindy would take care things. They are always nice enough, and with the prices virtually unbeatable I just deal with the glitches as they come up.

  6. Just finished two home parties this week... my first time doing them. Made $400 at one and $300 at another, about 13 people at each party. It was fun, more fun than the craft show I did a couple weeks ago.

Big sellers: apple shaped clear jars (Candles and Supplies),frosted tumblers, masons, apothecary jars. Ceramic crocks were a bust. A HUGE seller was embedded mini wax pumpkins in orange gel in a rolypoly jar. They sold out in minutes.

Top scents: Christmas Cheer (BCN), Pumpkin Pie, Pink Sugar, Bayberry, Apple Jack & Peel, Apples and Oak, Candy Cane, all the expected ones. :-)

A lot of custom pouring to be done in the next few weeks (i.e. "can I have a mulberry scent in the apple jar in blue?") I'll do whatever they want, as long as they're payin'!!

Anyway that's it. Hope the season's doing well for everyone else. :-)

  7. My first craft show this weekend... I thought it went pretty well considering I had one of the worst spots. There was a large main room, an alcove and then the back room where they normally keep the fire engines, where I was... cold and drafty and it got about 1/2 the traffic as the main room. Anyway I did 5x the booth fee. One other candlemaker and she seemed to be doing the same amount of selling as me. Here are some pics:

  8. Hi there,

I am doing my first craft show in 2 weeks. I am leaning towards a bigger variety. I have some frosted jars, some crocks, some apothecary jars, pillars and votives. Something for everybody. ;)

As far as scent is concerned, I will be offering about 20-25 different kinds. I am hoping it is enough to attract a wide variety of people, but not so much that people can't make up their minds and just walk away.

As I said, this is my first foray into this, so I could be totally wrong. I'll let you know if my guesstimating pays off!

  9. This is a somewhat off-topic question and I'm embarrassed to even have to ask it. But ladies, have any of you ever been pregnant while candlemaking? More to the point, have you ever TRIED to get pregnant while candlemaking (obviously not at the same time haha)...

I've been trying to google this topic and so far finding nothing regarding risks or precautions.

My husband and I are ready to start a family, and this is only a part time gig for me, so I'll sacrifice candlemaking if I need to if it means it won't hurt my chances or the health of a baby.

Any input, I'd really appreciate. I haven't had a chance to talk to my doctor yet.

    Thanks.

  10. Just got samples in and loved them both! Very rich.

On another note, I got Monkey Farts in the sample pack and didn't care for it. I mixed Raspberry, Banana and Vanilla (all plain from Candles and Supplies) and thought it was nicer, maybe I just don't like the bubblegum in Monkey Farts?

Anyway, BIG thumbs up on Lemon Pound Cake and Creme Brulee!
