Long story short, I poured a large customer order and used the wrong sized wicks (off by quite a bit). I've already reached out to them & notified them of the mistake and that I'll be re-making their order.
My question: is it possible to reuse any of the wax that's already been mixed with fragrance oil & poured? If I melt down the candles & reuse that wax will it produce a compromised final product? I am very ready to err on the side of caution & completely start from scratch, but figured I'd throw out a Hail Mary here in case someone has encountered this issue before/has any advice. I'm using a mix of Freedom Soy, Coconut Wax & beeswax with an 8.5% fragrance load. Thanks in advance for your help folks!

Hi there! I reached out to a few commercial carriers mid 2020 for a liability policy - the Hartford, Nationwide & Hiscox. The Hartford wouldn't even quote me (I'm still a fledgling business and at the time did not have sales to speak of). I ended up going through Nationwide for my current policy, which is liability only. Because I wasn't able to get a lot of quotes, I'm not sure how it stacks up in terms of pricing. My background is in commercial insurance, and many years ago I handled claims for a major candle retailer - that experience scared me straight & I would strongly recommend liability insurance to anyone selling candles!

Hi there! My name is Kara, and I live in Chicago, IL. I’m a soy candle hobbyist aiming to eventually sell my candles (once I can *hopefully* consistently produce a great final product). Working with soy wax is... challenging. I’ve been making candles for about 2 years now and love it! I’m 35, in a relationship with no kids. I work a 9-5 corporate job currently, and am loving the process of learning what I hope will be a fun side hustle. I’ve been lurking on the forum a bit, gathering tips and tricks. A huge thank you to all of those that have shared previously, it’s such a huge help to those of us just starting out!
Cheers!

Thanks all. After losing a few nights of sleep, I decided to just start from scratch. I didn't want to risk a good customer relationship on a sub-par product, not having tested the results myself. But I appreciate your feedback!!
