I too am a newbie to candles. Haven't made any yet; in the research stage. I've been drawn to hemp wicks... I guess for the rustic look of it. I will be making dipped beeswax with maybe a combo of other waxes as yet undecided. I very much would like some input on hemp wicks.

Glad to meetcha! I'm xavalyss. I used to make soap by the ton and a member of the Dish, but not really active now. My fondness for making soap has faded away and I currently only make it for myself or by special request.
For a long while, I've been interested in making beeswax dipped candles. A link on the Dish pointed me here.
I'm 64, widowed, live alone with my wild cat Delmer. I have 3 grown kids, 4 grands, and 1 great-grand. In 2 weeks I'm going to see Def Leppard and Journey. Only the number makes me much older than I feel. I work at a nursing home 2 days a week. Don't have many (any, really) friends.
I have ventured here to see what I could learn about candlemaking. I hope to learn a lot here, as well as make some new friends. Thanks in advance for any and all help I could want.
Scenting beeswax - the good and the bad

I did try a couple of searches and didn't come up with what I was looking for.
I'm going to be trying beeswax dipped tapers and am wondering if there are any really good recommendations for scents, and also any that I should steer clear of.
Thanks in advance for your help!
