In your experience do you think the humidity has a significant effect on the  burn, or is it primarily the heat? Here in the deep south there is no such thing as hot and dry, buy my thinking is that the melting of wax is primarily a function of heat. Of course most things I think about candles turn out to be wrong so why would this time be different?

Deep south, as in like the Gulf? With the high humid climate there, it wouldnt surprise me if it does have a high effect on the burn. At the very least, it would effect the scent throw.

I learned that bulk apothecary now carries citric. Depending on where you live it can be a super bargain. $55 per 50# and there's always at least a 10% off coupon, often more. They sent me a coupon with even more $ off but I did not need any last week.

shipping to me is super cheap as I am only a zone or two away. Overall it's the best price I have found as I can't get it locally.

I kno this post is old, but Im curious as to the quality of the citric from BA... is it comparable to the one from Duda?

it has taken me about 100 lbs of different coconut waxes to find a combo that works. 😕 The good news is I learned a LOT about how this wax reacts and wants to burn. It's an awful lot like container paraffin.

🤔 well, Coco wax is my very first wax, so I had no expectations, no experience, and nothing to compare it to. I just kinda said "hey, coco wax and wood wicks sound nice, so thats what im gonna do!" SMH... so.. im about 80 lbs in and am coming to the conclusion that wood wicks may not be ideal for this California heat... but dangit, Im stubborn 😂 my MPs are just too deep for me to feel safe to sell. Cool/slightly warm after a few hrs? Check. Nice width? Check. Depth?? Uh-huh.. 🤣

  4. In Another post that I read, someone suggested to burn a different scent for a day or two, cause you may have just gotten used to it 😁 i cant find the post to link it (still new and learning how to work this thing) but I think it is fairly common to get candle nose while testing 😃

  5. Jojo,

Take a breath... breath.. breath... keep your hands away from your hair...ok! 😁

Im in NO way an expert (on anything), but I may have a few suggestions.

What are you cleaning your containers with? I have found, especially with paraffin, that I HAVE to wipe my containers with rubbing alcohol. It also helps to heat your containers first, and wrap them so they cool a bit slower. Before I started doing that, the outside rim would get solid very fast, and the wax in the middle gave me all sorts of problems. It was so frustraiting i almost chucked it all 😁

Vybar isnt my friend, at all. I know alot of people have success with it, but it didnt do anything but give me a pain, so I just scraped using it altogether. Maybe when Im more experienced I will give it another try 😁

Maybe try using your wax without anything, no additives or color or scent, and see if it still does it? And then reintroduce them one at a time? Then you would know if its your wax itself, and could possibly narrow down to the culprit of the problem?

  6. Ya, having brain fog stinks so i call it brain farts 😁

You could try just putting a border around it, so you can leave it solid. Or you could window pane it, with just four large squares with simple borders. I know you said you would rather leave it solid, but Im just trying to throw out some simple ideas for ya 😁

  7. @Geodon99 .. I have no clue how to even attempt cut and curls, but I think u are right about the targeted market. I especially like the idea of school fundraising, but it would still have to be profitable for both you AND the school or organization, PLUS still be affordable for the customers.

Personally, having 4 kids, plus countless neices, nephews, ect in school fundraising AT THE SAME TIME, is such a PITA, and SO expensive even for the cheapest item, its hard to support them all. The only other alternative that the schools have here are to sell dollar chocolates.. but lets face it, a person can only eat so much crappy chocolates 😂..

I do know that the one and only time one of my neices sold container soy candles, their school exceeded their goal by a thousand bucks 😁 SOOO.... I think it would be an amazing idea 😁

  8. Hi everyone!

After about 6 months of lurking and stalking, I figured it was time to say hello 😁 soooo.... HELLO!! 🤣

    A little bit about me:

My name is Bessie, I live in central CA, and Im weird 🤗 (figured I would warn u first before u guys figured it out😁)

I have 4 boys, who are all a**holes, but hey, they are MY a-holes 😂. Two of them just graduated high school, one will be a softmore in high school, and one will be in 7th grade next school year. I have a 1yr old "puppy" whos name is Moose, and if u have ever seen a moose run, then u will understand why I named him that 😄.

I am a stay at home mom, and have been for the last 18yrs. I started (trying to anyway) making candles and soap about 7 months ago, cause.. well, empty nest syndrom IS a thing, and I wanted to find something to lessen the emptiness BEFORE it hit (whats that they say about prior planning?)😆. Let me tell ya, I didnt know what I was getting myself into when I started this journey, thats for sure! Its another one of my "bright ideas" that Im unsure of how I got into 🤣😃

Well.. thats about it I think.. thanks for listening to my rambles 😁😁
