  1. I just rec'd my 1st kit from peaks, they gave me directions. however, the weird thing is they don't tell me how much wax or for that matter how to figure it out how much I need to use. also How much colorant and f/0 to put into the melting pot. They tell you the steps but no amounts. I think this is quite weird especially when you buy a kit and know nothing about

candle making. This is the main reason of me buying this kit to learn. so, If someone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it since It is snowing here and I would love to try to make my 1st candle. I have a round pillar mold 3 in x 6.5 inch.

  2. When I first started making these, I tried the string, but found it too time consuming. I ended up using the foamcore board (I believe it's shown the the Bittercreek site). It was fast and easy for me.

I always use clear base. I do my petals a bit different -- I don't sell them loose, I reconstruct the petals (and leaves) into an actual rose.

    Here's a pic from my site: http://hanabotanicals.com/index_files/Page5842.htm

    wow that is beautiful!!

so you buy the rose and cut it dip it and then

    put it back together?

  3. Hi my name is Cheryl and I have been poking around here for awhile.

I have my own bath and body business that i am going into my 2nd year.

As of right now i can't sell candles due to my insurance carrier. I have

been looking into making candles for my own personal use and maybe if

I get good at it in time I would change my insurance and start selling ONLY if

    i am good at it.

I have been looking at this website where they have the "basic instructions"

which it seems very helpful. However, how do i know what wax to use and

which wick works, is there a standard guidline for this? Also, if i just want to

start "playing around" should i purchase a kit or just buy piece by piece and what company would you recommend?

    Thanks,

    Cheryl
