  1. Can anyone help please???? I would like to make what I believe are called reed diffusers - a jar of smelly liquid that has some 'sticks' (reeds?) standing in the liquid. They absorb the liquid and give off a lovely aroma. Someone suggested that maybe the liquid is polysorbate 20 with water and EO. But what proportions?? Would appreciate muchly if anyone can help with a recipe.:grin2:

  2. Sorry Bunny, not sure if this is the correct place for this question, so please forgive me :smiley2:. New grandbaby hard to get to sleep unless she's on someone. Had a thought tonight about making a sort of wheat/flaxseed type bag/thin mattress to go under her - problem is they don't have a microwave. How can you heat a bag without one - any suggestions??? You ladies have helped with a problem before so sure would appreciate it if you can help on this one too. Thanks muchly:grin2:

  3. Hi Sherolyn, by sachets I presume you mean with dried lavender flowers? Why do you need any EO? They will have their own beautiful scent which will last for years. But if you did want to add a bit of EO it doesn't matter which - whatever you like the smell of. Good luck

  4. I love visiting this forum for ideas but get very puzzled over abbreviations of ingredients, which obviously all the long time users know. Is there a list anywhere of abbreviations eg "FO" ??

    Thanks, Ann

  5. Hi, haven't been around for awhile to do some browsing. Someone has asked me about making a body scrub, she thought it had some sort of salts in it (with my lavender oil). Has anyone got a recipe please or point me in the direction of a simple one?

    thanks muchly

  6. I have a lavender farm and I make lavender scented bath bombs all the time to sell in our farm shop. This is the recipe I use.

1 kilo (2.2 lb) baking soda

400 grams (14 ozs) citric acid

Mix well in bowl (I use the kitchen whizz but for smaller amounts use a knife)

    Keeping stirring add

10 tablespoons (150 mls - 5 fl ozs) of an oil (I use sweet almond oil)

    Dribble in SLOWLY

2 tablespoons lavender essential oil (or whatever ess oil you want)

Keep stirring, spray with witch hazel - as someone else said you get the 'feel' when it's right. I probably would use a couple of teaspoons full.

Then pack tightly in your moulds.

I make bath 'cookies' I press them into a circular mould bigger slightly bigger than but same shape and shallowness of a milk bottle top and bath 'muffins'. To do these I put paper muffin cases inside the metal muffin tray holes and press them in there. Leave in the hot water cupboard overnight. It doesn't matter if they start fizzing a little as you're making them. They settle down after they've dried out.

I'm in New Zealand so hope you all understand - I know we use same words for different things :smiley2:

I buy my baking soda and citric acid in a bulk bin type grocery store. I use Grosso oil as it is fairly strong in scent.

    Hope this helps

    Ann
