  1. I love The Flaming Candle! Scents that throw strong in my all soy blend for tarts include:

Chamomile (herbal and clean smell, really strong)

Oakmoss (This one is strong I would start with 5-6%)

Apple Jack and Peel (super strong in my tarts)

    Black Ginger and Bamboo

    Eucalyptus

    Lemongrass

Lavender and the Lavender blends are all great in my soy

    Asian Sandalwood

    Hope this helps!

  2. Hey ya'll, just placed an order from Candle Science. I've only tried a few of their fragrances in the past, but would mostly get wax from them. Super excited to try all of these.

I got: Garden Mint, Black Sea, Blood Orange, Smoke and Odor Eliminator, Lavender, Apple and Clover, Baby Powder, Caribbean Teakwood, Cinnamon Stick, Cotton Tree, Cucumber Melon, Fruit Slices, Fig Tree, Grapefruit and Mangosteen, Hydrangea, Mac Apple, Lemon Pound Cake, Orange and Chili Pepper, Nag Champa, Plumeria, Peach Nectar.

Phew that was a lot :o;) Can't wait to get them and pour them into wax!

Funny you should say that about lemon pound cake- I thought I was the only one and I do call mine fruit loops! Lol

I know it's awesome! The throw so far has been great and that's with only a three day cure!

I found this on the heavy side, too...here is a thread with some good ideas:

Thanks maryta! I actually just saw that thread, lots of helpful information :)

  4. I recently ordered from Peaks and poured all the samples into wax. I use an all soy blend for my melts. I've never ordered from Peaks before and I can tell that they're excellent quality. I'm more of a spa/clean/herbal type person, but I wanted to branch out and try some scents that I've been hesitant to try. Here's a quick rundown:

Amish Harvest - Love Peak's version of this one. I've gotten Amish Harvest from a few other suppliers and they were weak and not as complex as Peak's. Love this one and adding it to my lineup!

Black Raspberry Vanilla - I really love this one! It's a nice balance between a tart Blackberry and creamy vanilla. I'm getting a lot of tart Blackberry, but it's super strong.

Banana Nut Bread - Like I said, I'm not really fond of bakery type scents, but this one is sooo realistic! Once I got it into wax it smelled just like banana nut bread baking in the oven. I like that there is a little spice and you can detect the nutty notes in it.

Coconut Milk - I was really excited to pour this scent and the reviews on it were good, but I can't really smell the coconut in it - I just get a waxy/plasticky smell. Hopefully with a nice cure the coconut will come out.

Fresh Cut Grass - Saw some good reviews on this one and decided to take the plunge. Smells like I just mowed the lawn. Can't tell if I like it or not yet, but it's definitely strong and realistic.

Lemon Pound Cake - OMG!! Love this! I love the realistic lemony smell it has. Don't detect that fuel/plasticky smell that I sometimes get with lemon and citrus scents. I feel like it can be a good blender and use as a solid citrus. I don't know if I'm crazy, but I'm totally detecting Fruit Loops. Maybe just add some type of milk and it'd be a great dupe of Fruit Loops. Really love this one!

Pink Sugar - I'm not a huge pink sugar fan, but Peak's smells realistic to me and it's an overall good, strong scent. I think I want to mix it with a few others i.e., lavender, laundry-type scent, etc. to play around with it.

Spiced Bamboo - This was a free sample they threw in with the order. I like it, I'm just not getting the bamboo notes. Smells like a men's cologne and I'm smelling some alcohol as well. Not something that I would usually use, but it's nice and strong nonetheless.

Wild Mountain Honey - Wow! Smells just like honey! Love it, but it's a tad heavy for my taste. Does anyone have any recommendations for any good mixers with this scent?

I'm placing another order today or tomorrow, love the oils!

  7. Hi everyone! My name is Tyler and I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone on the forum. Craft Server came up in a search a few years ago and I've learned so much looking back through all of the archives! It truly is a wealth of knowledge on here.

I've been making candles and melts for about four years now as a hobby. I initially started because I was sick of buying candles that didn't throw well/didn't burn well. I purchased my first candle making kit about 5 years ago and was instantly hooked! It's definitely been a learning curve with lots of $$$ spent, but I absolutely love trying to make the best product that I can possibly make with my time and resources.

Right now I'm in the process of launching my soy wax melt business and see where it takes me. I know it's an incredibly expensive hobby/business, but I want to take it a step beyond giving away to friends and family. I'm excited to learn more on this forum and to connect with chandlers/makers/crafters!
