  1. I tried a couple of blends from all soy to para-soy and all paraffin, and now very pleased with 4625 and 4630 at 50/50 for my clams. I use 10% FO.

I also did NG's Pillar of Bliss with 4625  at 60/30. It made nice tarts too.

I do have a question though. What's best for molded tarts? Should I use straight 4630 at 6% that it calls for?

  2. Is anyone familiar with this company? I just placed a small order with them. Their oils start at xx per ounce and then go down the more you buy of a scent. Their shipping is reasonable too.

If you have ordered from them please share your opinion on the scents you got.

    Thanks!

  3. I'm trying to find a good body spray, and saw these bases can make anything from cream to body spray. I'm new to all of this and I bought a base concentrate. It works well but I'm not really pleased with some of the ingredients. A lot of people expect a more natural product when handcrafted, and this base contains: Distilled Water, Polysorbate 20, Propylene Glycol, Kosher Vegetable Glycerin, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, DmDm Hydantoin. I'm worried some people won't like seeing PG, SLES and DmDm Hydantoin.

I need some advice from experienced B&B crafters. Can anyone recommend a good recipe to make a lasting body spray? It doesn't have to be clear. I use solid bottles.

    Thanks in advance!

  4. I made a test batch of PoB with Cranberry FO. I couldn't wait to try it and warmed one the same day. The HT was really nice even before curing! If it's better cured, I'm really liking it

I put butterscotch Brulee melts (made with POB) on this morning, and still going strong after 9 hours. I just got in some more waxes today to play with. IGI 4625,4630,4786, and MC'S natural palm coconut votive. That should keep me busy for a while:)

I just ordered some 4630 too. I'm thinking I'll try mixing it with the Pillar of Bliss and Ecosoya's PB. Not sure what ratio to start with but hopefully they will go well together.

  5. I started making tarts in April.. been testing ever since. EcoSoya PB is the wax I originally chose after doing some research and I've been using it since. Only lately, I've decided to branch out and test other waxes. In my opinion, it only makes mediocre tarts. That's just my opinion and with my experience. It just doesn't work that well for me. Cold throw is nice.. really nice. Hot throw is blah. Not long lasting and usually not even strong to begin with. I've tested it with over 100 different fragrance oils and only had ONE batch that threw like a champ. That one fragrance oil made tarts that lasted for 2+ days.

Like I said, it's only my opinion. I don't want to offend anyone who uses this as their primary wax.

That has been my experience with it so far too. I just made my first test batch of NG's Pillar of Bliss wax. I'm hoping it's better.

  6. I bought a bottle of fragrance oil from someone on Ebay who I'd never tried before. The oil I received has a less than impressive scent in quality and strength and it has a chemical smell to it, not like my other oils. I want to get a refund if I can show it's cut. They also advertise them as concentrates that are stronger than fragrance oils and require less. I thought that FO's in their true form and uncut were the strongest form of scent. Either way, I made a room spray at 3 ml to 4 ounces and it's nowhere near as strong as any of my others. It's pumpkin pie so it should be all that mild.

  7. Gina, you may have to let soy cure for up to 2 weeks before getting a good throw.

I figured that might be the case. I'm not sure I like using a wax that takes so long to cure. LOL I'm impatient. Ha ha

  8. I've made 2 test batches of Ecosoya PB in 1 ounce portion cups. They smell good cold so far, but after 48 hours still not impressed with hot throw. I melted wax to 185 and added FO at 10% for first batch and 12% on second. I poured them at about 150. The first is Spiced Sugar Plum and the second is Fresh Fig.

I also just ordered 10 lbs. of Pillar of Bliss from Nature's Garden. I'll see how this does. I really want to find a standalone wax that I can sell while I'm working toward my own proprietary blend. I haven't really seen anything negative posted about PoB. I hope this works out.  Next up will most likely be IGI 6006. If need be I have the Ecosoya PB to blend with it. LOL

  9. I had no idea they bought the idea.  I may not make a huge profit but it's better to me to charge less. I have always loved their wax over other direct sales companies. I guess being new I'm still in the new excitement phase. LOL I'm looking forward to making something I can be proud of though. Lord willing I'll get this down and do okay with it. :)

  10. LOL...I just left them to start my own business. They really have set the bar high. In my opinion they are the best at what they do. I just don't like the idea of charging $5 a bar and making 25% when I could make my own, charge less and make more profit. Of course I'm a newbie and a ways from creating my perfect blend. LOL Their wax does pop right out when cooled and it does have a slight rubbery feel. I've used most of the direct sales wax melts and theirs wins hands down for wickless.

  11. Thank you, Old Glory. :) I kind of like the idea of wax popping out, but I personally keep my warmer going constantly so nothing gets to cool. LOL I usually just pour mine out. Of course I won't be selling to me. My first objective is to find a good stand alone wax that makes a good sell-able product while I'm working towards my own proprietary blend. I'm not picky about the type of wax as long a I get the desired results. My biggest thing is good CT and HT as well as longevity. I'm currently making 1 oz. portion cups and will also be making bags of molded tarts of various types. I'm working in a real shoestring budget so it's difficult for me to spend a whole lot right now on various waxes. I'm hoping I can at list dwindle the list of waxes to try to a handful. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've cured my first batch of Ecosoya PB tarts and they are not bad, but not exceptional either. I used a FO called Spiced Sugar Plum at 10%.  I just made a test batch of Fresh Fig last night. I'm waiting to see how they come out. I read somewhere that PB can hold up to 12% so I tried it with this softer scent. We'll see.
