Hey has anyone ever scene the move "Descent"??  Omg....it's not about zombies but "creatures"....Its about a bunch of women go down in a cave and meet up with this killer creatures!    Love, love this movie!  I must have watched it 5 times last month....

Ok, nuff about Zombies....well, I already posted my answer to this thread so I'll go elsewhere....

OMG Trappeur, that movie haunted my nightmares for years... the caving scenes  were bad enough,  add the creatures and it just pushed me over the edge.. LOL

  2. Whose creme brûlée have you tried? Cajun's is amazing and so is Mike's brûlée from Tyler Starville. They're the best I've found. I think Peak's gets good reviews on theirs too but I've never tried it in wax.

    Hope this helps!

Belinda! Burning my Creme Brûlée as we speak and my entire house is full of the aroma! Thanks for the recommendation..fyi, I'm burning in an 8 oz Mason with 6006 and a 44-36-18 zinc wick! I waited a full week to burn (I know it should have been longer). I cant even fathom that more cure time could improve on this! Thanks again and Happy New Year!

  3. I recently tried 4630 with 464 at 70/30, 60/40, and 50/50. Although I didn't like the look of it in the jar, they all threw great. I used a 60 zinc and they burned beautifully.

Forgot to mention, I used a 16 oz flint jar from Aztec which is a bit over 3" in diameter.

Old Glory, I have some of those 16 ouncers from Aztec but have not been able to come up with a good combination to get anything in them to burn well. Thanks for the suggestions. Lots of great new ideas to test in 2016 (including Premier wicks, you've sold me) :)
  4. Belinda sent me a sample of Cajuns cream brulee and she is definitely right.  It is very rich and you could truly smell the carmilization and very sweet in this scent.  I have never had good luck in finding a good one till she sent me this.  I'm going to be lighting up the candle I made almost 2 weeks ago today.  I'll post my findings.

No pressure or anything Trappeur, but by my estimates it's time to start your testing :) Can't wait to hear your results!

Belinda! Thanks for the suggestion! I've only used Aztecs Creme Brulee and it smells great, but their customer service lately has pushed me to look for other suppliers....ordered this scent from Cajuns yesterday and can't wait to try it!!

  6. Thanks Oh Glory, I definitly will. I manage numerous nurses, physicians and some pretty heavy hitters and wouldn't have my job if I treated people the way I was treated today. I am a customer and deserve some basic respect but what I got was "that's just the way it is". Sad as Aztec is close and I really love 6006. I will check out the place in Atlanta, thanks for the info. Check your PM.

  7. Just to update you as well, I just contacted Aztec because I needed to order some new 6006 and my last order came straight in the box no covering, and was covered in dust and flecks from the cardboard. I wanted to make sure that was a fluke (and then check the lot #) but didn't get that far. I was told thats just how it is, straight in the box. No apologies, no answers. Very disappointing. I guess I need a new supplier in general.

  8. Hi guys. I rarely post here but follow these posts avidly. I have a cause that's dear to my heart and need to pull from all of your experience and knowledge. A school friend of my children (grown now) lost her baby to a domestic violence situation, and if that wasnt enough, since the state couldnt go after the abuser quite as easily, they instead aggresively pursued this young lady who was a victim.as well, and since her family was so devestated emotionally, spiritually and financially, she once again payed the price and she herself is in prison. 2 years later, the abuser was finally convicted and much came to light to exonerate this poor young woman. All this to say, the grandparents (parents) are living with this tragedy and injustice and we all try to support as much as possible. A few months ago I made the grandmother a candle in a 16 oz wide mouth mason, LX 18, 6006 wax, Aztec tobacco scent and she adored it. Apparently she keeps candles burning round the clock, so I would like to make her some nice candles that would burn slow and long yet bring some joy in the way of scent. I am open to buying any supplies, but have the 8 and 16 oz WM masons, 12 oz salsas, 6006, 444, 464, 415, and lots of wicks, scents. Any ideas would be appreciated. Also, on a personal note, always question what you read out there, the media can make or break any of us at any time, and please keep this family in your prayers! Thank you in advance! Nancy

  9. Thanks Trappeur! I will do that. Wish I had ordered some black lids, but there's always paint right? :) I am working up to the 16 ouncers, slowly, this is definitly an art of patience. I have "accidently" let some candles cure for a month (I usually can't wait) and you are spot on, the difference in scent and burn were amazing! Can't wait to try this scent!

Thanks for the pic, even early on you were a true artist!

  10. Hello everyone! While on Filmore getting Christmas Tree fragrance (you all are such bad influences), I found this lovely jar that I would like to try. Ive pretty much stuck with the same two containers over the past year of learning this art, so ready to spread my wings a bit! The waxes I will be using are either 464 or 6006, I have the full gammet of ECO, HTP, LX, Zinc and a few sizes of CD wicks. I generally stick with between 6 to 8 percent FO, dependant on the fragrance and increasingly have not been adding color to my candles. Any suggestions for wicking, fragrance or general experience you have had would be most appreciated. I want to thank everyone in advance for your help, this forum is amazing and I truly appreciate you experienced chandlers willingness to share with us Newbies!

  11. Oceangazer, I actually had made a few candles about a month ago for Fall in this jar, one with an ECO 2 and one with a 44-36-18 zinc wick. I used 6006 with Candy Corn scent at about 8% (I know, I'm still learning). I had completely forgotten about them, but have been burning them the last 3 days and they are doing fabulous!  I'm really bad about that cure time, I get anxious, but if these are any indication of what waiting will do, I need to learn some patience. :) I knew you had been testing in this jar and just wanted to share!

  12. Trappeur,

First of all, WOWZERS!!  These are absolutely stunning!  I can hardly get past looking at them to comment!  First of all, most wedding items with dates have the date in all numbers (11-21-2015), just a thought.  Secondly, those tops are perfect, looks very Fall-ish to me :)  And on a down note, I don't really like THAT birch tree, but you are obviously a talented artist, so who am I to say?

    Bravo!

    Nancy
