  1. I purchased few milkyway molds.

I do CP mostly. Do I need to use mold spray or something ...for easy release of soaps from molds?

I remelted previously prepared soaps, and filled those milkyway molds, without any spray. Not able to release the soaps, even after letting the soap dry for few days.

    Please help me...

  2. Yesterday I tried again. At light trace, poured little to another container and added color. Kept on stirring by hand, and waited for sometime. It wasnot a false trace...and i poured. It was perfect. Creamy creamy. I was so happy.

In last few batches, i had used more water than soap calculator prescribed, since i wanted it to trace little late. (some trial and error method.) I think that added to the problem. and lemongrass EO added to curdling.

Yesterday i used lavender and it worked without any problems.

    Thankyou verymuch for all suggestions.

  3. I did CP, When it traced, added EO and color...and then it reached consistency of pudding. I made sure to stickblend for longer since citrus EOs curdles the soap mixture. When i felt, consistency is ok...i poured. After few minutes oil started seperating. I had to repour to pot, blend it again and repour. This happened in last 3 batches. Even when i used lavender EO, it happened.

When i use, vegetable shortening, it traces very fast, and i am not able to swirl. so i tried adding little more water than prescribed... Is it the cause for the above problem? Can someone pls help me...

I see in the tutorials, people pour in a pourable consistency. But I could never do it, coz trace is very fast... or i need to add more water...

Do i need to use more soft oils?

  4. few more soaps..

    Green is eucalyptus ..

brown ones are lavender with turmeric. Wanted to get yellow..but turned out brownish...with poppyseeds.

Last two pics are of Swasti, my daughter, who likes to smell my soaps. She climbs up the chair without our knowledge sometimes and starts smelling the soaps. She is trying to smell unscented soaps...

  5. i tried to make clear soap with ethanol and glycerine.

i melted the soap and dissolved with glycerine and ethanol and heated up in slow flame. continued adding ethanol and heating again and again to get rid of water content fully to make it clear, as was the instruction giving in some link.

but it never turned clear. pls let me know if someone has ever tried.

atlast got a soap which is little different than the normal ones, but not as clear as i expected.

should i add anymore alcohol and heat it up again?

  6. I made a batch with basil oil last week and only a little lye was left.

so Thought, let me finish that also, and poured oil. But, lye was too less for the amt of oil i had taken. I didnot want to pour the oil back, so continued soaping.

When i put lye soln in oil, only part of it became hard soap which was floating in the oil. All the shops were closed for 2 days due to some festival here.

So had to keep the oil soap mixture as it is, till yesterday.

I bought lye again and tried adding it to oil soap mix... and blended. had to heat a little. but then it started tracing. blended the earlier formed soap mixture which was floating...which became chunks.

So, at the end of my adventure, my soap became chunk soap with dark and light green colors...with eucalyptus and lemon grass oil ...

Smells good and texture is also ok.

Now i am confident that i dont need to waste anything...

oh god. i started using my first batch..(which actually precipitated when i added lye mixture)...They are too hard bars.

I remelted it several times, each time adding one or other ingredient.

so right now i am having many flavors of soaps....

Thanks a lot for all of you... you are my real teacher..

i never knew i can learn soaping by reading in internet.
