I started with MP because I was intimidated by working with lye and I felt I wasn't patient enough for the 4-6 week cure time of CP soaps.  But, I'm a control freak and really wanted to know exactly what was going into my soaps.  I also loved the beautiful designs I saw everyone doing with CP.  I was able to make some nice looking MP soaps but they still didn't look or feel as moisturizing or luxurious as soaps made from scratch.  I wanted to be able to customize soaps on a whim or at the request of a customer without having to order bases.  It's definitely addicting! I have a good amount of clear base and triple butter base left.  I guess I'll be using them as embeds. 

I have been having problems with this lot.  I've had better hot throw with 464 in the past and was impressed by the creamy tops.  Now I've been having issues with weaker throw and holes in my tops.  I thought it was something I was doing. 

I really like candle cacoons version.  It takes a while to cure in my wax (about 4 weeks before i get a good throw) but It's the best I've smelled by far.  I've never tried CS.

Back to the original question in the OP, natures Garden had an Egyptian musk that worked well enough for me a few years ago. They are all subtle out of the bottle.  When in soap or candles though the mysterious notes pop out prominently. Use too much or make it too strong and it becomes nauseating.

Thank you.  I will be getting a sample of this oil along with their vanilla sandalwood.  I tried that one years ago and loved it.  There were many reviewers who said it was great. Only a few who said it was too light any I bet they were judging oob.  Have you tried any of their patchouli?

Yea I guess sweetcakes takes a lot of pride in their egyptian musk.   It's too pricey for me as well.  And I called WSP and have to buy 10lbs of it minimum.  I guess this scent has totally gone out of vogue! I had a bf in the early 2000's who wore it and I LOVED it.  I know my customers would dig it.  They enjoy the patch, sandlewood, nag champa type smells.  I'm in Ohio.  I'll order a sample from Natures Garden and I'll check bulk apothecary. If anyone has experienced these, please share.  Some of the reviews on NG said theirs is light. I'm not looking for light.  The search continues!

Hi.  I'd really like to include an Egyptian Musk scent in my soy candles and soap line.  I did a search but didn't find much in this scent.  Could you guys share with me your favorites?  For me, the stronger, the better. 

I have been using 444 for years.  On a recommendation from an employee at the supply store I go to, I tried 464 and haven't looked back.  The 464 gives smooth professional tops without the guesswork.  It also burns at a cooler temp so  I can wick down and have a cooler and safer candles.  It gives just as good of a throw if not better with the FO's I use as 444.  It melts faster too so the melt pool gets bigger faster creating a HT faster. 

Spiced Apple and Peach -  You can really smell cooking apple and peaches.  It's light on the spice though.  Very good HT and CT and the scent lingers.  I'll be repurchasing this one.  

Warm Vanilla Sugar.- This one smells really true to the original version with all the complexities.  Smells up a nice sized bedroom and spreads into the hallway and down the stairs.  I need to test it in my salon to see if it can compete with other scents.  So far great HT and great CT

Toasted Cinnamon Almond - OMG I loooooove this scent, it smells like almonds and cinnamon with a toasted note but somehow doesn't come across as bakery to me.  It has a very pretty scent that's lighter than you'd expect.  AWESOME CT but no HT in my wax.  I'm so disappointed I can't use this one in candles.  Once again, I'll be using this one in bath and body products.  It would be great as a lotion, body butter, conditioner, you name it.  Hopefully I can find an almond scent as good as this one that will throw in my wax. 

So far, I've poured about half of these scents.  Here are my reviews.  I used 444, 8%.  2-3 weeks of cure

Pomegranate - Very pretty berry scent (more tart with a little sweetness).  good CT, I wish HT were stronger.  It had a weak throw in my living room, but did very well in the bathroom.

Pumpking Pecan Waffle -  Very sweet bakery scent, I could smell waffle and syrup, not sure about pumpkin notes tho. strong OOB, weak CT and HT. I literally smelled nothing after burning it for hours in my closed bedroom

Pumpkin Creme Brule - Super sweet and rich dessert smell.  I can smell the butter, the pumpkin (no spice), the cream and sugar.  There's also a toasted note.  This one is AWESOME!  Very strong HT and CT.  It also lingers.  I burned this in my salon (it's my final test of candles to see if they can overpower other smells).  It's strong there and when I got back from 3 days of not burning it, my studio still smelled like this scent.  I will be repurchasing in large quantities.  I already have advance orders placed from the tester. 

Sugared Spruce - Good CT Good HT.  I've used RE's version and I think I like this one better.  They smell the same but this one is stronger.  I'm testing it in my bedroom now and I can smell it coming up the stairs with the door cracked.  I'll be repurchasing this one.

Banana Nut Bread - Kind of a candy banana scent. like a banana laffy taffy or now and later.  Not a fan of imitation banana flavors personally.  The bread is in there but the 1st note is that candy banana.  However, very strong HT even better CT..although the CT is super candy-like.  Very comforting and warm scent despite the imitation banana note.  I've used Candle Cacoon's version and it's truer IMO to a real banana nut bread baking in the oven.  I have one from Peak that I haven't tested yet.  Undecided if I'll repurchase.

Nag champa - I love this scent and their version is OK.  It had the incense smell but it's not as rich and complex as the one I tried from Peak.  This one is good for someone who wants a more clean and crisp smelling nag champa.  The one from Peak is deeper and has a tad bit of sweetness in the background that I enjoy.  CT and HT is good not great.  Peaks is stronger. 

White Tea Ginger - Such a lovely scent.  I wanted it to work so badly but sadly there is no CT and no HT in my wax.  I did put some in my melter though and it worked that way.  Still not as strong as I would like it.  I may use it in bath and body products.  I think it would sell like hotcakes because the scent is so delicate yet complex. A little tart, a little sweet, a little herbaceous. Very balanced and spa-like.  I think it would appeal to many.

I went into their store and smelled pretty much all of the scents in the candles they'd made with the oils.  If it had good cold throw I took note.  I tried to stick with the fall and winter oriented ones but I veered off a little from that.  I'm excited to get that one into wax.  I think it would be very popular.  My best seller is passionate kisses and jamaican me crazy.  My people are fruity

I made my first trip there today.  I got 20 scents and 4 liquid dyes for $40.  I'm praying these work in 444 so I can increase my profit margin and get away from the shipping fees I'm paying at peak and AH/RE.

I'm missing 1.  I'm most impressed with the strength of banana nut muffin, grape, both creme brulees, tc almonds, the mango papaya and butt naked oob.  I'll follow up with a better review after I get them cured and burned. The lemongrass smells a lot like peaks sage and lemongrass. 

Scents that came to mind:

Peaks spruceberry (somehow relaxing and invigorating at the same time)

Peaks holiday sparkle (really does smell like you're sipping on a mimosa by the xmas tree) has an upscale spa-like aroma to me

BBW cranberry woods, I don't know who has a good dupe but I friggin love that scent so much.

BBW Leaves - still looking for a good dupe of this one too

Candle cacoon - Frank and myrrh (I can't keep it in stock)

Peaks nag champa (Could offer her line some diversity, warm and comforting to my nose)

Is anyone using this supplier for fragrances in soy?  What are you favorites? Best hot throwers?

I've only ordered from 5 suppliers so far but my top 3 are

1.  Peaks

2. RE

3. The candlemakers store (25 mins away)

Peaks and RE for fragrances, TCS for wax, wicks, jars, dyes.   I do use TCS for some of my fragrances.  However usually, I end up being disappointed with their fragrances. Many times they are not very accurate to the name, weaker than others I've tried, and it's a real gamble because there are no descriptions and no reviews. 

I've also tried NG.  They are hit or miss with my wax. 

CC has great scents but for some reason need forever (4 weeks or more) to cure and throw well in my wax.  But, their frank flies right off the shelf.  I haven't found one that compares to it yet.

Thanks to this thread I just found out that The candle source is also within driving distance so I'll be checking them out as well.

I will be putting it in wax since I have it.  It was a little disconcerting how light the oob was but I will still test in my 444 and sachets before ordering from another supplier.  Thanks?

Thank you for including which supplier you used.  I forgot to mention I'm using peaks.  Does the one from Candle source smell strong oob in your opinion?

Ok.  Does that one smell strong oob?  I just got a sample in from peaks and it doesn't smell very strong oob (to me).  Smells nice though.

Does anyone have luck with this in soy?  I use 444. 

They were out of stock on birds of paradise, sage and lemongrass, and lavender for a while. Eventually they came back after weeks.  I'm wanting to try the white tea and ginger but the last time I checked they were out of that one.

I use 444 as well.  You may need to let them cool a tad bit longer.  I let mine cool to probably 90-100 degrees (or whenever it clings to the side of my pouring pot and gets a little slushy). I always get smooth tops when I do this.  Whenever I try to pour hotter than that I get rough tops and tons of wet spots.  

Do my customers seem to care? Nope.  Yesterday I had a client choose my only candle with a rough top ( I was in a hurry to pour) and it was because that was the scent she preferred.  

I heat to 180-185, add my fragrance and dye in at that time then stir and let cool.  You just have to be really patient with the cure times with this wax.  That's the most frustrating part for me.  I hate waiting 1-2 weeks to burn a candle.
