  1. I am still testing wax and I was wondering if anyone using the IGI 6006A was having a problem with it getting air bubbles in the finished candle? Sometimes when I burn my candle I see air bubles floating to the top. I have been testing the Greenleaf wax and the Millennium wax, and the IGI is the only one I am having this problem with.

I am melting the wax to 160 and pouring at 160 to 165. I haven't found the perfect spot on my stove dial yet, and I am trying not to over heat the wax.

Thank you for any help, Connie

  2. I got my sample on Thurs. I can't wait to try it but I twisted my back and have been waiting to test. I also ordered 1/2 lb Rasberry Fo, and samples of Hawaiin Breeze, Orange, Cherry Vanilla, and Fudge Brownie. I love the smell of all of them and now I don't have enough wax to test them all.:embarasse Thank you Brenda for your generosity.

  4. :yay: I made a real candle! :yay: I made it for my hubby for valentines day. He loves grape so I made 1/2 pint JJ with 1/2 lb IGI 6006, 1/2 oz grape 2000 from Taylor Concepts and a cd 12 wick. The mp is great, the hot throw is great, the cold throw is great, I am very happy all around. I filled 3 jars and stole one for myself to test. DH said he could use the candle warmer for his since there is no wick. Anyway just wanted to share my joy. Thank you all for your help.

  5. I am wondering would cigerette smoke effect stored candles. I don't smoke, but the family who lived in this family before me smoked so much the walls were yellow. We have cleaned and primed over most of the house, but the closet I planed on storing my candle stuff in has not been cleaned or repainted. Should I clean and repaint before I use it for storage. We don't use it right now but I want to be sure before I make a huge mistake.

    Thanks, Connie

  6. I'm not sure how to answer your question, but I have tested the LX and the 16 worked ok with peppermint and some vanilla FO. I got a full mp and I burned for about 3 to 3 1/2 hrs. If the 16 doesn't work for you the 18 should work just fine. Sorry I'm not more help but I have not had the chance to test the CD wicks yet in this wax.

  7. When I am measuring 1 lb of wax and I want to add FO about how much FO do I measure out. Like I made a candle and I used 1 lb of wax and I then added 1 oz of FO does that sound right? 1oz of wax is the same weight as 1 oz of FO, right? Like a cup of milk is the same as a cup of butter. This may sound crazy but I know sometimes solids are different than liquids.

    Thanks for you help, Connie

  8. I think I will remelt the candle and try adding more FO to it. My last "real" candle was peppermint and I added way too much FO and had the fuel smell that I am still working on. When I gave it to my friend to burn at her house, she said it smelled good, but a little week. Maybe the wax was a contributor, I did smell a little stronger after a couple more days of curing.

  9. I can smell my candle when I stick my nose in it. I have also asked my boys if they can smell it because I figured they can smell better than me. I got my FO from BCN it was closeout. Does that mean it has been sitting around for awhile? Or is that stuff they just did not want anymore? I was using Enchanted Lites, Millennium container wax, I got a full mp with the 51-32-18P. I burned it for about 3 hrs, and I am using the short wide mouth jj. Can’t remember what size they are. I am not using any additives. You may have it on what temp. I added in my FO. I am not sure what temp it was I went with the wax suggestions and did not even look at the FO bottle. Thank you all so much for your help. I know you guys here it all the time but all of you are great. I know if all the newbees could stand up and give you a round of applause we would. :yay: Thank you about my board name, It is from a song I like, but it fits me well.

  10. The wax = the sent of the candle. If you add the full load of sent and the sent is not strong enough for you. IE you can't smell it even if you are standing over the candle it is because the FO does not work in the wax, right, it has nothing to do with the wick. Did I explain that right?

For example: I am testing a candle, I burned it for the right amount of time and I could barley smell it. Is there anything I can change to increase the sent through with out adding more FO because I have already put in the full load. If I remelted it and repoured it at a lower temp would that help?

Sorry this is so long I just wanted to be clear about my question so I can get a clear answer.

    Thank you all, Connie

  11. :yay: I'm a connie S too. It is rare to meet a Connie ( for me at least ). My last name is Scoggins, maiden name was Williams, what is yours.

On EO's if you do a search on google it can give you lots of links about EO's. Some can be hazardous, but most have benifits. Do lots of research, if you look in the soap making section you can get loads of info too. HTH

  12. I got my sample wax today. I am so excited because I never could "fix" the mess I made with the IGI 6006 and pepermint. The wax is in pellet form is that easier to work with? I know there are some sents that are mor stubborn to work with, like maybe peppermint. What are some others I should shy away from as a beginner? I have BCN honeydew melon, BCN hot apple pie.

    Thanks you guys, Connie
