Sure RUB IT IN!!! Wish I had soap making stuff near me! The place by MY work only sells candle making stuff!
Not fair at all!

I use wax paper to line my counters with when I work and that works great. Just throw it away when I'm done. I also use thick paper towels to clean my Presto Pots with. I'm not sure what they're called ~ they're blue like the type mechanics use. Very thick and durable.
I know what you are talking about! We have a roll of those in the van lol.

I read about taking a propane torch(I think) to the outside and was going to try it with my heat gun.

I made a strawberry kiwi pillar(from the peak kit) the other night and poured the extra wax into a muffin pan. I cut those into chunks today and poured just wax over them and got this. I think it came out great! Only the chunks are scented, but you can really smell them. I haven't burned it yet though. I can't wait to make more, I really like the look of these.

The closest one to me doesn't have wax lol. Mostly soap making stuff and it's right by where my husband works too. Looks like the only one in the state with wax is over 5 hours away and only had gel wax. I'll keep searching though!

I'm in FL. I'll check out those links now.

How can I find a place that is close to where I live?

Is it cheaper to just go to a craft store(Joann's, Michaels) instead of paying for shipping? Or is the quality that much better?

Thanks! It looks and smells good while burning too. I lit it for dinner last night.

I got one! I'm going to try to do another pillar tonight, hopefully this will make things easier lol.

Thanks! I'm going to Walmart after I drop my daughter off at school. Where would I find this at?
-
That sounds pretty easy!

Hmm... I don't have a heat gun. Will that be useful in the future?

What do you find is the easiest way to clean up? The molds, the pouring pot....
-
Nope no bubbles, must just look like it in the pic. It's burning nicely and just for me anyway lol, so I don't mind much.

I got a converted presto pot forever ago. Would it be easier to use that instead of the double boiler method? Easier to control the temp?
-
Man, I want my house to look that clean!!! :-)
You can't see the floor lol. I have 3 little ones, but I do use flylady.net lol

Did you poke relief holes? If you don't do the relief holes, as the wax cools it pulls away from the sides of the mold in a fashion similar to this. It is called dimpling.
Dat
eta: It is a very nice looking candle. Great 1st time!
I did do relief holes, I don't know if maybe I didn't do them soon enough or something though. Thanks!

I'd like to see those! Sounds like a great way to recycle.
-
That is really cool!

The wax with the kit said you don't need to add anything to it. The pour temp was 180, because it said 175-185 so I went in the middle lol. I want to try another one soon, this was fun!

I don't know anything about pillars but I like your furniture...it looks just like mine.LOL Sorry to butt in... Ginger
Thanks! We just moved into a new house and got new furniture too

Ok, ignore the seam line. I didn't mess with that yet. What are all of these little dimples all over the candle? I got a kit from Peak and followed all the instructions, so is this a normal problem?

Looks great! I read about taking a butane(maybe) torch to the outside of them and was going to try with my heat gun, but never did lol.
