Thanks for your response Leah! So "all" the feathering disappears?
-
Has anyone who makes tarts ever used palm pillar wax mixed with Soy? If so, do you still get somewhat of a feathery/granite look? Not happy with the hot throw on tarts with just the plain palm wax. TIA

Thank you ladies! I'm definitely sticking with the 3 for $5.00

I have a prospective customer who wants 100 lips balms (tubes) as wedding favors and I don't know what sort of break to give her? I normally charge $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00. She also wants the labels to have both the Bride and Groom's names and wedding date on the label rather than my company's name which is OK with me. Any input would be great!!
-
Definitely let the bride choose "her" favorite fragrance!!

I've used BCN's VS as well as NG's VS and I prefer NG's much more over BCN because the smell is no where near as potent plus my Pink Sugar from NG turns a pretty peachy pink and not yucky yellow...... JMHO
-
I agree with noodle, I've tried the VS from BCN and NG. I prefer NG too
-
VS smells awful to say the least! Smells like ammonia to me...........Ratio is supposed to be the same amount of FO that's used!

Thanks Candybee for the tip on the colorants from Nurture Soap Supplies! I looked at them a few times but was hesitant to buy them for fear they wouldn't be up to par with the Pop Micas............ Great News to say the least

Could be wrong, but I think a lot has to do with places like Dollar Tree, Walmart, etc. Yes, many people say they would support American-made, locally-made products, but the majority will get sucked in by the ridiculously low price found at the box stores.
I've seen large container candles at Walmart selling for $5, clamshells for under $2. Who can possibly compete with that. I can't :undecided
My exact words to my friend yesterday

Yep, I'm with you Sliver Sad after all these years.................

Thank you everyone for your comments! I agree as far as the economy being at fault but I definitely think with the market being drenched with a lessor grade of candles from WalMart, Target and Dollar Stores has really taken a bite out of us little guys. The average person doesn't understand the concept of a quality made candle. I too closed down my website due to the drop in sales about a year ago so don't really know yet where this will end up? I'm going to have to really think this one out and see what happens with the rest of my Art Fairs this year???????????????

I'm a bit concerned with my sales and would like to know how everyone is doing at Craft Fairs this fall? What I'm mainly interested in is the sales of container candles, wickless candles and other wax products! I've noticed that my sales have been down quite a bit this fall compared to previous years. It's almost like people aren't even interested in handcrafted candles anymore! Could it be the economy or could it be the competition from all the discount stores, dollar stores or big company home parties? I'm really stumped to say the least. This year my sales are up in my CP. It's like everyone wants handcrafted soap and no candles. I've noticed a decline is Craft Fairs in the past, a lot of lookers and not a lot of buyers:( Your opinions, Thanks....

I grind my peppermint and eucalyptus very fine and it's not scratchy at all! HTH

Hi Barb, Thanks for the info!! I decided to do the same thing but I haven't received my order yet. Can't wait to try the oat flour out. I tried the other methods or grinding and then re-grinding but just can't seem to get the particles soft and smooth enough plus they end up sinking to the bottom of the container.
-
I think I'll grind some oats up and make a 1# test batch to see what happens. Can't hurt, that's for sure! Thank you all
-
Thank you Texas! Do you use it in CP without any problems?
-
I just came across this article and wondered if there is anyone who makes their own or do you always purchase it? If you make your own, does it work out good?
TIA

What ironerose said is absolutely correct!! The flash point on wax is quite high, anywhere from 400* to 450*.....................
-
I agree with ChrisR! Check your wax temperature against the knob setting when all wax is melted and adjust if need be. I had a pot that always heated my wax 25* hotter then it showed so I had to turn it down that much every time I used it. Mix your melted wax really good and then take the temp in the middle of the pot!! No reason to heat wax any higher than the 200* HTH

I'm going to try it tonight only with the Q-Tip testing. Don't want to waste FO's if I don't care for it! Thanks again
-
Thanks, I'll definitely have to try that combo cuz I love Patch!!!
-
Sounds interesting to say the least!

I received my Moonworks "Gypsy Rose" a little while ago and it's definitely hands down the prettiest Rose fragrance I've ever smelled next to a real rose. Definitely going to use this one in CP and probably in my wax too. So happy I decided on this FO.

Do you use this combo on tarts only?
