  1. I wanted to use the 1343A Mottling Pillar Wax in a barmoral jar. I thought it would be really pretty if it turned out right. I don't mind much if it does't adhere to the glass, that just illiminates wet spots, right? hehe

    Oh... I use:

    Pillar Wax: 1343A

    Container Wax: CB-30

    Cajun Liquid Colors

  2. use a Pillar Wax in a container? I really like the more brilliant colors of the pillar candle wax than the duller container wax. Can't we use Pillar Wax in a glass container providing we still poke relief holes and take proper precautions?

Are there any dangers in doing this?

Have any of you tried it? What was your experience?

    TIA!

  3. Hi all!

I used to use a medicated glycerine soap called, Purpose. I LOVED the scent of it. Does anyone know of this soap? If so, would you happen to know the name of the scent or one similar? And where would I go to get it?

    TIA!

    ~RF~:)

  4. I've purchased from them before. I haven't got their M&P but just a fair warning.... Their prices might be good, but they really make up for it on the shipping!

I paid over $18 for a box of stuff that weighed less than 4 lbs! They get you BIG TIME! Then they charge you a handling fee on top of that! What a rip! :(

I go elsewhere now. Being ripped off on shipping really gets me mad! There are tons of other places you can get M&P soap for a good price, so check the shipping cost!

    Just thought I'd warn you.

  5. Is there such a thing?

I've only made 4 batches of soap and have gone thru 2 stick blenders already!

After about 10 to 15 mins of use, they get soooo hot, they blow... along with the fuse that operates all the outlets in my kitchen.

Can someone recommend a good brand that will last?

I can't remember the 2 brands I had, as they are both at the dump now. I "think" one was a Hamilton Beach???

Any suggestions? What brand do you use and how long has it lasted you?

    TIA!

  6. Yes, these are pics after a 3 to 4 hr burn.

I didn't include pic #1. It was really bad quality and was also taken from the side, so it didn't show the melt pool. So I didn't include it.

I do think that pic #5 was after a 6 or more hr burn. I do remember forgetting to take one of the pics after 4 hrs so I took it later that evening.

Candle Man: you can get 120 hrs off a 6 inch pillar? What's your formula? Please share with us!

    Oh well... can't say I didn't try.

  7. I guess it depends on what you want it to do.

I always add stearic to mine. This will help it to self consume, but even then it will flatten out about 3/4 of the way down.

If you WANT it to tunnel down, I'm guessing you'd want a smaller wick, and don't allow it to burn for very long at any given time.

I friend of mine bought some (not from me) and hers tunneled.

I personally haven't made that many yet.

    Hope this helps.

  8. Hi All!

I've been doing a candle test over the past couple weeks, on behalf of MargaritaMama!

This test was to show that by adding stearic acid to the wax, you can burn a pillar all the way without it bulging around the melt pool. It also consumes itself with no cupping needed.

I did no cupping at all. I just wish I would have seen that tiny piece of burned wick stuck to the bottom of the candle before taking all these pictures. Oh well...

The recipe for this 6" x 3" pillar candle is exactly as follows:

    23 oz. 1343A Wax

    3 Tablespoons Stearic Acid

1.40 oz. Peaks Spring Rain FO

    1 Drop Blue Liquid Color

    30 ply wick

Poured into a warm mold at 185 degrees.

I used no UV in this test, but have many times before with no difference in the outcome.

These pictures were taken every 3 to 4 hours.

  9. Thanks for the nice comments everyone!

I gave this one to my mom. Then my sis in law saw it and ordered 2 of them. My friend order 2 of them also.

If I ever get to keep one for myself, I'll be sure to light it and take a pic!

Too bad I only have 1 ball mold. :D

  10. Well.... thanks for Jojo for bringing this technique to my attention and due to Donitas fantastic tutorial, I was able to turn a terrible looking ball candle into a very nice crackled candle in a matter of minutes.

    Thank you both so much!

I made the pic rather large to show off the detail.

It's scented with Peak's Amish Harvest.

What do you think? Personally, I'm amazed! I wish I had taken a before picture. You'd never believe it's the same candle.
