  1. Thanks for all your input. I used 1oz/ppw with the 44z wicks. I have been pleased with these so far. I did find that with this and with Peaks apple jack peel my flame burns smaller, but they just don't blow me away. I'm starting to wonder if it is me? My friend took one home and said it was great. I guess I will try it again today and see what happens.

  2. I'm having a time with this one. It smelled great OOB, but no hot throw unless you are right on top of it. I'd heard nothing but good things about this vanilla. Do you all have to wick up with it? I'm using 4630 in 8 oz jj. Any advice would be helpful:)

  3. I use 4630 and have the same problem with the sooting when it comes to marathon burns. I'm by no means an expert just making some candles for mom, grandma, etc. for Christmas. I'm going to try the HTP line next because of the mushrooming and am hoping that will help with sooting. I hope someone with more experience chimes in. But it does seem like we are using the most unpopular wax out there :)

  4. Fern, My hubby has one from Wal-Mart and he loves it. Checked with him and he said the counter doesn't feel hot. I went back to Wal-Mart last this week to buy a few for the house and of course couldn't find them. Wal-Mart here is notorious for moving stuff around and no one seems to be able to tell you where they are. I looked everywhere and couldn't find any. My hubby "thinks" that they were around 5-6 dollars.

  5. I've been lurking around here for quiet awhile now, getting tons of helpful info from you all. I'm making candles for myself, but am wanting to make some for my family. I'm making 8oz. jar candles, but am having the wick "mushroom" on me after burning for awhile. I've tried different wicks, but am wondering does the "mushrooming" wick mean that it's too big for the jar?

I would appreciate any help on this :cheesy2: Thanks!
