  1. This really stinks!! I ordered everything through Peak.  I loved that their scents came in amber bottles.. Everywhere else I've tried sends them in white see throughish bottles.. :(  This grinds my gears!  Have to redo all of the testing!  Find new scents, change the website information.. argh!

  2. I hope nothing happens to Peak.  I'm going to be up a creek without my boat or paddle!  I'm still working through my last 50lbs of Ecosoya wax and wanted to buy some recently from Peak but as others have noted, they are out of almost everything.

Just not sure now who or what soy waxes to get and from whom now that Peak seems to be out of stock all the time :(

  3. So one question I have using the presto pot.  Do you add the vybar into the pouring pot or into the presto pot?  If the pouring pot, how do you get it to melt and blend well with the soy wax?

Seeing so many say that the magic wax melter people are good, i'm strongly considering ordering from them.

  4. This likely has been asked a thousand times but I can't seem to find the right thread.  Other than eBay and etsy, there was another supplier of silicone molds that always came highly recommended from here.  I'm looking to get a few molds to try those out along with the clamshells. (now that things are slowing down with my main job, I can finally finish out my website and try new things!)

    Thanks in advance everyone!

Maple Street clamshell prices do not make sense.  It is cheaper to buy 2-50 packs than 1-100?  When not on sale, it is even higher.  Help me understand, please. :)

thats odd.  I bought an entire case.  This is likely due to a misconfiguration of the discount.  I'd send them an email and point it out.

  6. Hopefully I don't get yelled at for this but here goes:

I own my own web hosting business/dedicated server space.  Being technical minded, I used Presta Shop software to create my own website on my server.  I utilize Paypal for payment processing so no customer credit card data is stored or passes through my servers.  Presta Shop was somewhat easy to configure and get operational. The administrative interface is powerful however it does have some points that could be better, especially when it comes to product configurations.  I like how powerful PrestaShop is and prefer it over SquareSpace to be honest, and since I own my own server, it's cheaper than utilizing Square.

    Good luck !

  7. What's your name?  James

How old are you? 32 (getting so old :( )

Where do you live? Indianapolis Metro Area

How long have you been making candles/soap/whatever? About 5 years now, only candles/wax melts.  Only recently started tinkering with candles, wax melts have been my primary focus

How did you get started making candles/soap/whatever?  Got tired of paying to the Yank and decided I could do it cheaper myself.  Needless to say it hasn't been cheaper but it certainly has been more fun.

Are you married? Any kids?  good god no. and HECK NO.. not a fan of the little terrorists.  GET OFF MY LAWN YOU PESKY BRATS! :)

If candle/Soap making isn't your primary job, what do you do?  I work in public safety.

Anything else we should know?  A geek, a video gamer, and a photographer! :)

  8. So these clamshells have worked out well now that I've used a few hundred of them.  They are slightly smaller than the ones you get from Peak and do require a cut back in the weight of wax melted to about 15.6oz to ensure no overflow.  Will certainly be using them again for my next order!  I would recommend them for anyone looking for a bulk supplier.

  9. This breaks my heart in so many ways.  I've been so busy lately with my full time job that I haven't been able to get back on the forums as much as I want to or focus on my website/works.  Vicky welcomed me with open arms and provided so much advice when I finally decided to start selling my wares.

For those that knew her better than I, my heart grieves for you.  She was a beautiful soul, beautiful person who meant so much to so many people, her loss won't be easy for anyone.  I hope that knowing how much of a beautiful soul she was and how much she meant to others helps you all carry her legacy forward.

I light this candle in your memory Vicky.  Thank you for your kindness.  You will be dearly missed.

  10. So my clamshell order from Maple Street arrived today.  The box survived the rough treatment from USPS fairly well although I could have boxed my USPS driver's ears for just throwing the box at my door with a loud thud.

They seem to hold up well on the pours but I have noticed that I have to cut back my wax weight a tad.  I generally make exactly 1lb of wax per batch ( i like the small batch process, what can I say), and that exact 1lb doesn't all fit into the clamshells.  I've started to cut back and I am down to 15.7oz's to prevent over filling the melts.

Otherwise, I like these clamshells.  Thanks for the recommendation.

  11. So I've crawled the Peak page in depth and I can not seem to locate any MSDS sheets on their fragrance oils.  I've had an unusually odd request from a customer for a copy of the MSDS for the oils.  Anyone know of a way to obtain the MSDS sheets for Peak's oils?

    Thanks,

    James

  12. You may also consider signing up for your own FedEx shipping account.  Not only are they cheaper than UPS, they are also faster and they tend to give you a "permanent" discount off of their main published rates, which also helps.  I've not really had any suppliers squawk at using my own account except Peak since they do so much volume with UPS, its difficult for them to switch over and use UPS.

    Might be worth a shot.
