  1. Hi! The mad scientist here...wife of NavyVet. Working on the business side of things. Any advice on accounting and inventory control tools?
  2. So, I did another 3 hour burn. The second burn only created a 2 1/4" wax pool in a 3" wide tin. The first burn created almost a full wax pool. The second burn is more of what I expected to happen for the first burn. Is it normal for the second burn to have a smaller wax pool than the first?
  3. You have a good point birdcharm. I may have to get eco-8 to test. I really want to make the best candle possible by my own standards and what I would like to see when I buy a candle. I know a longer burning candle would be a huge benefit.
  4. I have the F&M in an Eco 10. I will give that one a go. I agree, until I got into the hobby, I never really followed burn instructions. Don't need to get burned. HAHA! Candle humor!
  5. I am going to give the Eco 10 a try and see what happens. I have about 11 more candles to test (all different scents).
  6. The photos are at 1 hour intervals. For a total of 3 hours. I don't want the tin to overheat.
  7. It is an 8oz tin. I was worried about the wick. I went off of the advice of Candle Science. I also have ECO 10s that I could try.
  8. So i was able to patiently wait 2 weeks to burn my first candle. I am looking for any feedback (good or bad). It is Frankincense & Myrrh from CandleScience at 7% with gb464, an ECO14 wick in an 8oz tin. pre burn 1 hr 2 hrs 3hrs post burn Sorry for the quality, my regular camera has dead batteries. Had to use cell phone.
  9. Trust me, she is not going to listen to me any time soon. I have confidence that she will make some amazing mixes. What a great smell that must be! I would be hungry all the time.
  10. Ended up using 464 with eco 14 wicks in an 8 oz tin. I will keep you posted on the results Moon.
  11. So, my wife and I got our first shipment from CS on Tuesday. I immediately started unpacking like a kid on Christmas morning. It was so exciting. I made a Frankincense & Myrrh yesterday and love the smell that filled the house. A few hours ago my wife showed me how much of a mad scientist she really is. She started rummaging through the fragrance bottle like an old witch about to whip up some old forgotten brew. Here is what she came up with. Chocolate fudge, coconut, buttered rum & pecan pie. My house now smell like a bakery. She has created a German chocolate cake candle. I can not wait to see what else she comes up with. Of course, I, being the voice of reason (haha, that's a good one) say, "Sweetie, we should really stick to single fragrances since we are just starting." I don't think she is going to listen. I will keep you all posted on her next brew and how the German chocolate turns out after curing and burn testing.
  12. Thanks Candybee. Nice to know that there is someone close by. It is great to be here.
  13. Hello Belinda and thank you for the warm welcome. My lovely wife was born in Houston but moved to deep east Texas when she was a young girl. She grew up in a small town named Woodville. If you are not familiar it is just south of Lufkin and just west of Livingston. As for my crochet skills, my wife says I do extreme crochet since I learned and went strait to the hardest thing I could find (sport team blankets). I want to let everyone know that I look forward to our future conversations.
  14. We are currently using 464 in an 8oz tin. We are not using any dye at the moment. We like the look of the natural soy. We are using eco14 wicks. Most of our supplies are coming candle science at the moment, but my wife likes the fragrances that lodestar offers. (I think it's cause she is from Texas.) We are currently allowing our first candles to cure so that we can test the scent throw. I will keep everyone posted. One thing I would like to bring up is that, my wife and I are both vets and are thinking about trying to help other veterans out there. I have downloaded an application to align ourselves with the wounded warrior project. This would allow us to use their logo on our products. We are looking to give a portion of the proceeds from our sales to the wounded warrior project. Does anyone have any experience working with another organization in this manner? Can I get some thoughts, pro/con on this idea?
  15. Thanks for the welcome. My wife and I look forward to using the knowledge that can be found here and to pick some brains (zombie reference) when we run into issues.
