tucker
Recently I saw some candles with a scene painted on them. WHAT KIND OF PAINT WAS USED??????
pdevine
I use acrylic paint and candle medium, mixed 1/2 and 1/2, works great. HTH Portia
darlascandles
that is also what I use....however, sometimes takes more than one coat. I've tried the candle paint and it seems to be exactly the same as the acrylic with medium added....really wish there was a better way! sharyl55
Tucker, acrylic paint should do the trick. Donita had a post a while back about spraying the candle with 2 coats of matte acrylic spray 1st then painting the candle. She said no problems getting the paint to stick to the matte coating. Problem I had with acrylic paint and candle medium is the paint will come off pretty easily if you ding the candle. Haven't tried Donita's method yet to see if it is more durable. darlascandles
Ok.......goofy question.......wouldn't the acrylic spray interfere with the smell of the candle? I'd love to hear from someone who's done this!
candlesprite7
I've used Acrylic paint with Candle Luster spray to hold it together, it worked well and didnt interfere when i burned the candle. I didnt notice any funky smells.
Donita
Tucker....I just read this post......about an hour ago I was painting some candles.....I sprayed on two coats of Krylon Matte Finish. Let dry. Then I just use regular acrylic paints. Works fine for me. Donita

creativegems
I'm going to have to try the spray. I always had a horrible time with the paint seperating and having to paint over and over. Today I wiped the candle with alcohol and didn't have any problems. I'll probably spray over the painting to keep it on.http://pic3.picturetrail.com/VOL22/556826/1336193/123156844.jpgJanet
Scented
Cute Janet! I'm going to have to try some of these tricks, because I had problems using the alcohol method.
