chas38
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find it in a forum search...Is there a wasy to re-melt old "used" wax and strain it through something to clean it up? I always make large 4" round pillars and I want to re-melt and re-poure the perfectly fine leftovers (FO is expensive!)...but sometimes there is carbon build up around the inside etc.....Of course in re-melts a lot of junk falls to the bottom of the pot anyhow and I've just been careful to pour around it, but I thought I saw mentioned somewhere the wax can be "strained' or something...of course I could be completely wrong about this...I remember this mentioned somewhere before but darn if I can find it...chas38
Deb
I use an old pair of pantyhose to strain mine...LOL!! I just melt the wax, put one leg of the pantyhose over the pourpot, and pour the wax. It catches all of the little floaties that I sometimes get in my wax. I believe you can also use cheesecloth for straining.
Dustpuuppy
I've used cone shaped coffee filters a couple of times.I gave up on doing this because it's too much like work and you burn off a good bit of the FO in the process, so it didn't seem to be much of a savings, to me. Your mileage may vary.
topofmurrayhill
Beekeepers use a nylon fabric material for filtering honey. That works well too. The wax goes right through with no trouble but it's fine enough to catch everything. I cut a square piece and place it in a strainer, then pour through. Sharon in KY
I use a paper towel, it strains out glitter and all.
SteveinPA
I use a paint strainer. Cheese cloth works too, but a strainer is my choice.
