Label opinions?

Attached are two samples of the new labels that are going on our melts. Which do you prefer, if either? We'll call the one with the web address #1 and the one without #2. We'll choose the one that gets the most votes.

Note: The gap below the warning is reserved for a bar code when needed.

Any input will be appreciated and not taken personally.

Thanks!

Well I just love them! Were redesigning at the beginning of the year so it's already began but yours are super!

As for the website or not, I guess it depends on where you sale. We have one wholesaler that just hates we have our website on the label. They say "It draws their customers to us directly". So that parts on you. =)

This made me wonder, so I went and looked on some candles I bought (ages ago - still have remnants because they didn't friggin burn right) and out of 8 all but one does have a web address on it.. so I would say it's the 'norm'. Unless your wholesale account is adament about it, then I'd leave it off theirs to keep the account...

As a consumer, I like it when products have a web address on them. It makes it easier for me to find them if I want to see what other products I might be interested in. So I definitely think having the address listed is important. However, I don't care for the placement of it on your label. IMO it would look cleaner if the web address were under the words "soy frangrance melts." With the text going a different direction than the rest of the label, it breaks up the continuity and flow.

Beautiful classy and well done label!

I like #2 with the website but I would have the name of the scent on intead of a number just for the reason of what if someone is buying for gifts? The person receiving it wouldn't know what scent it was...If it were mine I would put the weight and made in usa where you have the scent number and that would free up the larger space where I would put the scent name.

Great looking label!

Nice job, I like them both. I like #1 the best but I would like #2 if the website addy was running horizontal. I agree with the posters who think you need a name. If I were shopping for these melts I would not stand there and read every description to find out which one is Mac Apple, Red Apple, Tart Apple, Apply Harvest or Green Apple. I want to find my apple melts and move on. Maybe you have a numbering sequence that would narrow the categories such as 1 - 50 is bakery, 51 - 100 is Fruity etc. Most of my customers are one or two category customers. They ask where's the bakery or where's the clean scents? They can quickly find all the scents available in that category. JMO

Thanks everyone for your input! I think we'll take the advice of using the web address (we'll find a way to place it horizontally) when selling direct and no address for wholesalers.

As for the naming convention we use I think we'll stick with the numbers, for various reasons. We've been using the numbers for over a year now (all of our customers like the system and also purchase our products as gifts) and after observing many people at craft fairs and stores we've noticed that regardless of what the name is on the candle/melt the consumer almost always opens the container and smells the wax. We've seen groups of women where one smells it and then passes it around for the others to smell and the others don't even look at the name, they just smell and voice their opinion. While the vast majority of candle companies use names for their products there are also several large candle companies that use nondescript names such as Home Sweet Home®, Festival of Lights®, Canyon Sunset, Sparkle, Bat's Breath (don't ever remember smelling a bat's breath and not sure I'd want to...lol) etc., and have no problem selling those products. Using the number system also helps to set us apart in a very crowded industry. Oh, and there's also the little problem of some larger companies trademarking certain names thus making it more difficult in coming up with a new name for your candle/melt.

We have entertained the idea of separating them into groups as safetysue suggested. It would help those who don't want to stand and read every description or when ordering online. We're redoing our website so that will work nicely into the new design.

Thank you so much for giving and continuing to give your honest feedback!

I like the numbers too. It's more upscale. I also like the website label. Many people will look up the website to check what scents and types of candles you have; but it often is more convenient for them to purchase from the shop close to them and avoid shipping costs. You can always use label #1 for any wholesale customers who have issues with it.
