Can not smell IGI 6006 candles!

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I hate this wax. I can't smell anything burning. No I do not have candle nose, a cold or anything. I haven't poured since the middle of last week. We had some bad weather here in FL this past weekend and I lit some candles from when I used to use KY's Perfect Blend and they about knocked me over, but the lit candles from 6006 I can barely detect. I miss my PB. :(

I'm burning Cranberry Marmalade from CS where I get the 6006. It's a 12 oz emma jar in a small area and was poured at 10%..nothing.

I like getting my wax from CS, the shipping is very reasonable...can you suggest another wax? I think going back to All paraffin is what I may need to do.

I think that most Ky products are now available from AH/RE.

Have you checked to see if they carry KY's wax? Here is the link:

Thank you Ravens...but they don't manufacture PB as far as I know anymore, due to inconsistency issues. Even when Vickey had it, she was OOS a lot.

Understand that there are MANY private branded waxes. A supplier contacts a wax manufacturer and makes a deal for the product to be labeled differently - like Coke and Sam's Choice. Sometimes the supplier will ask for some formula changes, but usually, it's the same wax you buy from the manufacturer under another name. For example - GW 415 & EzSoy are the same wax. I highly suspect that KY 125 is GW435. You might want to check the Golden Brand's website or IGI's website and compare the specs of your favorite wax to what you see there...

Regarding the KY Perfect Blend wax - have you checked at AR/RE? When KY went out of business it was announced back in July that their line was going to be picked up by AH/RE... http://www.craftserver.com/forums/showthread.php?99461-With-KY-going-OOB-I-need-a-wax-comparable-to-KY125..-any-ideas/page2 ... BTW, to avoid confusion, be sure to preface PB with KY because PB is the abbreviation most folks use to describe EcoSoya Pillar Blend - a completely different product.

Now, about the wax you ARE using in your candles... The one thing you didn't mention was they type & size wick you are using. I suspect that this is where your problem lies, especially since you are using such a high FO load. Adding MORE FO does not always translate to better HT - just because a wax can hold a higher percentage doesn't mean the wick & container in which you are burning it will put of more HT as a result. If you include the type & size of wick as well as the inside diamteter of your container (we don't have all the dimensions of every popular container out there memorized), we might could offer some more accurate suggestions about why your candle doesn't have the HT you are seeking. HTH

At what temp are you adding your FO? What wicks are you using?

No, RE will not be carrying PB. I checked as soon as I knew Vickey was selling. Back to square one, it sucks because I really liked PB.

Stella...depending on the fo, I am using CD's, LX's and ECO's in 6006. I didn't start at 10%. I start at one oz pp and move from there.

I have a few friends that are going to test for me very soon so I will have other feedback finally. I am testing the 4 and 8oz tins from CS also.

Before I invest in the higher end jars I want to make sure this wax throws and get a feel for wicking it, then go from there. It doesn't look like I'm going to

stick with parasoy...I don't have the info in front of me but the 4oz tins are about 2" in diameter and the 8oz are a bit over 3". Maybe it isn't the

wax...it could be there fo's I can't detect. The Only one I can smell with HT is Pumpkin Souffle. I just maybe burned out after 10 yrs...I don't know LOL.

I can't smell Cranberry Marmalade or Blue Spruce. I made votives with Holly berry and a few others. I could only smell them in my guest bath. :(

Definitely not except able HT for a votive. Will keep trying.

I use CD's and paraffin for votives.
