Elevance E-200 Elite

Recommended Posts

I may just try a case of this next order just to see what it's like.

Here is reply from GW:

We do not use the E-200 in our products or classes, we do use the C-3 though. The difference between the two is that the E-200 is more robust, adheres better to the glass, and less likely to fracture.

Yeah they are one of the bigger suppliers here on the West Coast, and have always carried C1 & C3, plus a line of private label wax (which I'm not sure if they blend or have it done). I was very surprised to see Elevance come out with another soy wax. GW also added the EcoSoya lines recently. I do love going to their "outlet store" to shop...nothing "outlet" about it however...same prices.

This must be the wax Fillmore Containers was telling me about. They mentioned they were gonna carry the newest wax by Elevance very shortly. Its not on their website yet. They told me this when I was at their warehouse in Lancaster about 2 weeks ago. So far they only sell the C3.

Well if I bite the bullet on this one, I'll post results. Most likely I'll be back to C3 though, lol, not sure why I even try

others just to go through testing again! This one does sound very similar though...just bought 50# of C3 about 2 weeks ago so I'll be good for a while.

I did some testing on a new wax from Elevance called Excel last Spring. Has Excel become E200-Elite?? I had asked Fillmore at that time if they were going to carry it and they were looking into it. Not sure if the product has changed from testing but I found the scent throw to be comparable to C3. However I only tested a half dozen scents. One of the things I didn't like was it had complete pull-away from the jar. This can be great with some jars so you don't get the wet spots but in the case of the Libbey tumbler, it looked odd because of the curve in the bottom of the tumbler. If I recall frosting was supposed to be improved....I did get a little in a deep red Mac Apple candle. Sorry I can't be more help, after I saw the Libbey jars, I kind of put it aside.

Perhaps you tested NGI's Excel instead of Elevance's Elite? Excel is the newest container wax from NGI (EcoSoya). Elite has always been "Elite"; it is supposed to be similar to Excel in its properties - perhaps that's where the confusion came in...

Hi Stella...

Nope, my fault, I said Excel but it was E200. Just checked my notes and emails and found correspondence with Angie Horton from Elevance on Elite testing. It sucks to get old!! The samples they sent me came in slab form. I actually still have some left....Other notes, indicate the fragrance load is 6-8%...they suggest ripping the wick and repouring to deal with cracks or sink holes. In rereading my notes, I wrote scent throw seemed to be better than C3 and I was able to use a smaller wick than C3 in the same jar. It's all coming back to me now....like I said before I was just turned off on the complete pull away look in the tumblers. I may have to revisit the latest rendition and see how it performs....

Here's one of the emails from Angie about the wax:

Brenda,

One slab of the E-200 will go out today. The UPS tracking number is 1Z21920E0398931586.

Yes, when I say complete pull away, I mean shrinkage away from the jar. It will not adhere to the sides of the jar, but it does not pull away enough for it to rattle or fall out (is usually stays adhered on the bottom of the jar). We rarely see wet spots because this wax likes to pull away completely. The biggest issue we see with this wax is when people cool it too fast and it pulls away too quickly, leaving a slight film on the jar. This can easily be mitigated by preheating the jars, heating the wax up to around 180F, raising the ambient temperature a little, not using fans, basically cooling the wax slower (but not too slow!). I can work with you if you see this issue.

Let me know what you think of our E-200! Thanks.

Regards,

Angie Horton

I hear ya!! My brain seems to be developing a thick teflon coating...:undecided I'm glad you found your notes!!! Your observations are very helpful.

Oh EASY for THEM to say, huh? That's just plain ignorant! How you gonna affix a wick back that's been ripped? :rolleyes2 That sounds like one of those medical horror solutions - yep, I fixed the crack, but now my wick is loose in the candle... My arthritis feels sooo much better, but now I'm having heart attacks...:rolleyes2

I don't think I would like that either. If it just looks like one continuous wet spot, well that's okay. But I have a feeling this doesn't look like that... especially when she made the remark about visible residue on the glass...

Guess I'll just have to try some to see whether I can stand it or not...

Hello, I've been testing this wax too. I love the smooth tops, good scent throw, but the sides are terrible. I know its designed to pull away, but I don't like the look, even though I'm usually not to picky about wet spots. I asked them if I can mix it, and they said they don't reccomend it at all. They also told me if I want adhesion to mix soy methyl ester, but that is another added cost per lb of wax. I've personally never used soy methyl ester before.

  • 1 year later...

Thought I'd resurrect this post to see if there are any updates on Elite 200's performance.

- How are you finding the hot throw (which % of FO is best),

- is cracking an issue (I don't intend to "rip the wick")

- is the pull away issue solved by pouring at 180f and cooling slowly etc??
