leenabug
using gb464 .Sometimes when I am pouring a candle and I get it on my hands, i will stop and rub it on my knees or elbows (as long as its not cinnamon). I was considering adding 10 to 15% paraffin to my candles to increase scent throw and "stablize" them. JUst wondering if it would now be a bad ideal to rub it on my skin? Any difference? topofmurrayhill
Well it shouldn't hurt you, but there's a difference. "Paraffin" container blends are more or less a combination of spa-type paraffin plus the equivalent of Vaseline (microcrystalline wax and mineral oil). Cosmetics use some of the same ingredients and it should be moisturizing, but it might be goopier and harder to clean off. In contrast, soy wax is just plain vegetable oil (you could also call it vegetable fat or shortening), so it's easily emulsified with soap and warm water. Darbla
If you're talking about a paraffin wax that has additives in it already, I'm not sure I would unless I knew exactly what those additives are.
ChrisR
If you are talking about wax that already has the FO in it, I would definately NOT put it on my skin. The amount of FO in a candle far exceeds the percentage used in lotions, etc. Cinnamon or not, it's not very wise!!
