pixie
I was just wondering, have any of you ever made sheeps milk soap? If so, is it comparable to goatsmilk? Im not sure where I would even find sheeps milk..I live in a suburb of chicago (not lots of sheeps here lol) but I wouldnt be opposed to soaping it if were comparable or beatter than goats milk. bayougirl
Yes, there was a recipe of the Sage website, I use heavy cream, half and half or whole milk (or a combination of them) and it comes out great. Is this the one you're talking about?http://blog.thesage.com/2010/03/30/milk-soap-challenge-%e2%80%93-sheep-milk/It soaps great, but with any milk soap, it speeds up once the milk is in. Good luck
ChrisR
I made a few batches of sheep's milk soap (from powdered) a few years ago and actually found no difference between it and my goat's milk soap (fresh from local farmer). It had a slightly higher fat content, but over all, no difference!
lambofgoth
I raise dairy sheep and make soap with the milk. Ewe's milk, depending on the breed that produced it, can run as high as 9% butterfat so it should be a generally creamier soap. Even low butterfat sheep milk is much higher in fat than that of the highest butterfat producing Nubian. It's also much higher in solids and calcium if that makes a difference to you.
