Bernadette
I was talking to some other candle makers this weekend and was surprised to hear that those that use the full piecrusts for their pie candles don't wick thru the bottom crust. Why? I make the smaller pies and am getting ready to add the 9", but I always wick thru the crust. Why would you not? Am I missing something....:tiptoe:

Bernadette
Thanks for the response, Candlebuddy. Guess you and I are the only ones on here making pie candles with a bottom crust! :laugh2:Unless someone can tell me any benefit for not wicking thru the bottom crust, I'm going to continue to do so. Seems like a waste of wax otherwise.
Reyesofsunshine
i wick thru the bottom as well and use 7 wicks. a drill works great for getting holes in cooled crusts
Bernadette
Reyofsunshine, do you think that's why people don't wick thru the bottom crust? Don't know how and are afraid they'll break the crust? I really should have asked these candlemakers why they didn't, but it just seemed such a dumb statement to me....
