Why do the colors have to fade?

Purples have a tendency to gray on me as well, so I've taken to using much more color. Blacks used to gray on me as well, but if I used more of the color, the black became more pronounced. So instead of using 1/4 tsp maybe 1/2 tsp worked better. Color is all trial and error, since the color of oils in your recipe as well as the color of the scent and the components of that oil can affect the outcome.
