Craftedinthewoods
When subbing other liquids for water in a recipe do you use the same amount as the water listing no matter what liquid you use? I don't see in Soapcalc where you can change the liquid.I've been seeing a lot of people use different liquids. Some I'm interested in trying are aloe juice and beer. I've read that beer adds lots of lather. And I would think aloe juice would add softness for skin.I'd love to hear from soapers here what you think about these alternatives. Kitn
You sub the liquid of choice with the water, if you use 6oz of tomato juice , take that amount from your water.IME berry juices go brownBeer is a great additive, make sure it is totally flat before you use it , you will get a volcano when you add the lye if it is not flat.Aloe juice is nicePureed carrots make a very nice soapButtermilk or milk is a nice additionPureed cucumber makes a nice soapetc, etc,HTHKellie

Kitn
No you don't need a preservative, Mr. lye monster takes care of that need.
