rcrafty
I am just curious what makes some FO's not body safe? Is it that they just have not been tested? I ordered a FO that I though was body safe and then noticed on the bottle is is not, I was so bummed because it smells soooo good.
Candybee
Remember that FOs are synthetic blends and some of those chemicals can be irritating to skin. When you purchase a FO buy them from suppliers that list the body safe ones on their website. Then you will know for sure that it has been tested to be skin safe. rcrafty
Thanks Candybee.I usually pay attention to make sure it is labeled body safe but missed the boat on this one
CareBear
synthetic or naturally occurring compounds is not relevant here. what matters is that some things are irritants, carcinogens, sensitizers, etc. and tons of "natural" stuff is all of these. many EOs are forbidden as per IFRA.it's the chemical makeup and the levels of some components that is looked at when determining skin safe or not (another distinction that the fragrance mfg industry has is safe for leave on or wash off products, but our suppliers don't seem to.In the US (so far), EOs are not regulated as FOs are, but that doesn't make them any safer. Just means it's easier to mis-use them. Edited February 25, 2010 by CareBear
Kitn
What does it mean when it says "not tested in cp soap". Who does the testing? I have always wondered about this.TIA kellie
LuminousBoutique
I know some suppliers actually test them - in their own warehouses. The Sage, for example.... they make soaps and such for their blogs, so if they say they have tested it in CP soap I believe them... I think Natures Garden does too. I know brambleberry tests their FO in CP soap too.
smittenheart
some of the suppliers send out samples for people to test them in different applications..NG has a list of testers that they send FO's to..
