Red
I am using ecosoya wax to make tarts. it seems every time I make them the tarts end up looking layered and kind of flaky. I am so confused. Anyone know why this could be?
Judy, USMC
Are you using the EcoSoya Container or Pillar Blend? Also, are you pouring while the wax is hot or letting it cool? What type of molds are you using for the tarts? Spraying with any mold release? That info will help us determine what's happening. I use PB, pour hot into a polypropylene souffle cup and have never seen anything like what you are describing.
kestagano04
I use PB, I did notice that when I poured at a cooler temp my tarts would sometimes have that layered look. I like to pour at about 160. Edited October 30, 2009 by kestagano04
Red
I was using the PB, no mold removing spray and I was using a candy mold and pouring at the kinda slushy stage. Edited November 1, 2009 by Red
kestagano04
I use candy molds too. Try to start pouring at a warmer temp. I make 1 lb batches and use 6-7 candy mold trays. By the time I'm filling the last few cavaties, the wax will usually reach the slushy stage, and that's when I'll get a couple with the layered look.
