Elizabeth
In the past, I've conducted open houses during the w/e, however with all the holiday parties I am contemplating a weekday. I'm wondering if this will pose more of a hardship for people if its during the week vs. the w/e. I was thinking of a wednesday from 4 - 8 pm. Any thoughts? prairieannie
If I were attending an open house I would RATHER it be during the week I think week nights are much better for those kinds of gatherings because my weekends are usually too busy. RobinInOR
That's a nice range of times - people could stop on their way home from work. Wednesdays are big church services around here in the evening, would those hinder or add to your crowd?
Elizabeth
I hadn't thought of that Robin. Maybe I'll bump it to a Tuesday nite then. I know my w/e's are pretty busy this time of year as well, so i'm glad to hear that others are thinking along the same lines as me.
Trish
I used to do home parties (not candles) and honestly, Thursday night parties were always my best turnouts. People are winding down their work week and your time frame sounds perfect!
chrisIA
I would be more likely to go to one if it was during the week, after work. Too many times I get invited to them and they are on the weekends right in the middle of the day and too hard to plan around.
Bev
I agree with Trish. I would rather go to a party or open house on a Thursday evening after work. The work week is winding down but the busy weekend hasn't begun yet.
shell1226
I did my open house on a Thursday. That's the day that some of my coworkers suggested. I scheduled it at 6:00. People came right after work and all were gone by about 9:00.
ebcandles
I've done two Thursday night "Moms night out" type of craft shows this month. The first one was from 6:30 - 10 and the 2nd one was from 7 - 10.Large groups gathered for both shows:yay:
Stephanie
I'm glad you brought this up - I just scheduled an open house on an upcoming Sunday from 10 to 4. I wonder if I should rechedule to a weekday. I did have one a while ago on a Thursday in the early evening and called it "Cocktails & Candles", it had a decent turnout. Well, maybe I'll keep my Sunday one for the comparison. Sorry for the rambling - just thinking out loud. I'll keep you posted on the results though! Barb_513
I was once scheduling a home party that I was hosting (like pampered chef) and the lady suggested Thursday and told me that she found it the best night. He reason was that it was right before payday and she would get lots of people writing checks and spending more than if they were paying with cash. Also because people were to busy on weekends. I have never done a candle party but her logic has stuck with me for when I do start doing parties.HTH,Barb
lindsaycb
When is it too late to have one in December? That's what I'm wondering.I usually do a Thursday night kind of thing. Love the theme "Cocktails & Candles" Or how about Booze, Bath & Body...LOLAnyway...I'm wondering if the week of the 12th is too late to have one this year. Any thoughts? Elizabeth
Not at all!Last year I had mine on December 12th and made close to 2 g's!! 99% of the peeps were buying last minute gifts. FYI, the gift sets were a huge hit! Especially since people didn't have to package and wrap. The gift was all ready to give...Good luck~
Sara
I think that sounds like a good idea - for reasons mentioned above as well.
