angied
Hi, As far as the wooden molds for soap what is the difference between a loaf mold and a slab mold? Hopefully thats not to dumb to ask but I am getting ready to bid on one on ebay and they have one of each. Thanks in advance:grin2: Angied
RobinInOR
A loaf mold is usually only as wide as a bar of soap. Looks like a loaf of bread, and you slice the bars like you would bread. The part where you can do patterns or herbs or whatever is very small compared to the rest of the bar.A slab mold is a big rectangle, and you usually pour to the thickness of the bar. Think of it as bars that are laying down on their largest side. You can swirl easier in a slab, because you've got so much surface area that will show. Harder to make sure it gels all the way through (if you want gel), since it cools off quicker than a log mold.
