van_yulay Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Ok, I know I have to wait the 4-6 weeks before I sell my soap. I have a question that I hope someone can answer. I wrap my soap in clear skrink wrap. What I need to know is can I wrap the soap up like in two weeks? So the time I get all 24 scents wrapped the 4-6 weeks is done. Or do they need to breath? Quote
Louise Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Your soaps are still curing during that 4 to 6 weeks period, so shrink wrapping them would not only curtail that process, but you could very well end up with moldy soap. So yes, your soap needs to breath. Use this time to make more soap. There is no sure, fast way to get your soaps to cure overnight, however, if you discount your water, the cure time can be shortened. I would not advise discounting your water if you are new to soap making, especially the 50/50 method.HTH Quote
Luci Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Even if you wait to shrink wrap after 6 wks, the bars still shrink a bit. I use Dan's bands and rarely package before 6 wks. Even after that long you're still going to get a little shrinkage. Quote
van_yulay Posted March 22, 2009 Author Posted March 22, 2009 THat makes sense, I thought so, but I am so far behind on soap, LOL... Good problem to have though. Thanks Quote
