SiberianSF Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Has anyone used those two together?Separate? I can't seem to find any clear instructions anywhere, especially on silk. Quote
Candybee Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 I get my liquid silk and shealoe at WSP. They have the % at what to add for different applications. I believe the silk is 1-3% for soapmaking. Haven't tried the shealoe but you could start out at 3% and see how it does.I personally don't feel any difference in M&P soap that has added silk. So I use it for lotions and liquid soap applications. The shealoe sounds like an interesting additive for the M&P. I'd definitely give it a try. If you try it, please let us know your results. Quote
SiberianSF Posted April 14, 2009 Author Posted April 14, 2009 So, I LOVE Shealoe. Bars come out very moisturizing. I have given them as samples to several people, and everyone came back with raving reviews.I personally didn't even need to use lotion after showering with those.I don't know if I notice much difference in soap when I add silk though... Candybee Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Thanks for the update. I may give the shealoe a try. I already use shea butter so why not try the shealoe?!! It would make a great selling point.I made a strawberry aloe soap last summer with an aloe scent fragrance combined with a strawberry. It was a big hit but I always wanted to add the actual aloe to it too. So I may try it this summer.BTW-- how much shealoe did you use per lb? Quote

SiberianSF Posted April 15, 2009 Author Posted April 15, 2009 lather is still fine. It is not crazy foamy, but nice nevertheless. I added maybe one table spoon to a pound of my SFIC base. I think I will push it little bit more next time. My extra hard base can take it. Even if it cuts the leather, nothing a few drops of organic castille liquid soap wouldn't fix Quote
