jersey1 Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Hi everyone. I am new to this board but not to candle making. I recently decided to change wax and wicks....Maybe that was my first mistake....I am testing 464 and getting little to no hot throw, and I can not figure out were I went wrong.464 heated to 185 add fo and liquid dye...pour at 130 or so into 8oz jellys...testing eco 8 and 10 and cd 10s. cure 24 to 74 hours....scents that I have tested are cs mac apple....ng pomergranate..monkey farts..and melon mist..and bcs lemon pound cake....any help would be great I am so glad I found this board.... SharonA Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 what % are you using? I'm testing this wax with eco 10, 12 and cdn 8,10 & 12. Most oils have been from CS and am having no problem with the throw. Quote
Jeana Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Do you have a little of another soy you could mix with it? I've been adding a little accusoy 10 to it and it has been throwing much better now. The very best throw results I have had with 464, even plain, is with the premier 700 wicks. That was with all the scents I tried them in. The throw stands out by far the best from eco, cd, cdn, rrd, and hemps. I'm in between sizes with premier for most scents so I've been working with LX now. LX is my second choice for throw in 464.I don't take temps so I don't know all of that info. I pour hot, not sure if this helps or hurts throwing. I get better adhesion, less frost, and smoother tops when I pour hot. Quote
Jeana Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Also, I've gotten very good throw results with HTPs, but not that great of melt pool results. They may work for you though. Quote
