M Street Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Just been lurking for awhile I'm very interested in making some M&P soaps all of you on here is so inspirational, and have some beautiful soaps. Do any of you recommend any special companys that you get your M&P bases from ? I would like to maybe try the goats milk base. How about the dyes what kind do you use. I've got all my fragrances already from Peaks and Bert's Heaven Scent that are soap safe. That I have been using in candles, but it looks like you all are having to much fun making soaps I feel left out. Any information that would get me started in the right direction would be great. Thanks Missy:) Quote
kestagano04 Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 If you are already purchasing from Peaks, that would be a good place to purchase M&P from. They carry SFIC bases which are all natural, and very good quality. I purchase my soap dye from TKB trading. And you are right, m&p soap making is a lot of fun! :smiley2: Quote

Starr Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 If you've already got a supplier that sells soap stuff that you're comfortable with, go with them to start. You can usually buy small quantities as you start. I get my base and most of my dyes from Candle & Supplies here in PA because they're close enough to drive to, so no shipping costs/wait time. I really do LOVE their FD&C dyes, they're very strong and give me good color. Admittedly, I'm less then enthused with their clear base right now as I keep getting bits of hard crystalization/clumps in it that won't melt. I'm going to talk to them about it when I go down there later this week and see what they recommend. If I don't get a good answer, I'll try someone else's. The only dyes I've tried thus far that I haven't liked are from Oregon Trail. They're not overly consistant. I had Sapphire Blue and Wineberry Liquid Crystals that worked GREAT, but the violet/purple and Forrest Green that I bought, I found that I had to use tons and tons of it to get a good color. Quote
