DebbieTX Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I want to make a gardener's soap with cornmeal using orange and lemon EOs but see that citrus scents tend to fade faster than others. Does anyone have a suggestion for an anchor EO that would make it last longer? I have lavender, peppermint, spearmint, nutmeg, and cinnamon EO but am willing to buy something else. Any ideas? Quote
LovelyLathers Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I use orange 5x eo. I don't have a problem with it fading. Quote
sudsnwicks Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I like peppermint (either as an anchor or simply as part of the blend) in a gardener's soap because the scent reminds me of the garden. Quote
CareBear Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I don't know about anchoring, but my perfumers like spearmint in the gardeners soaps I've showed them. Also they like Oregon Trails Spring Mountain Mint which is less "foody" and is a blend of peppermint, eucalyptus, and who knows what else. Quote
Ann M Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I use a combination of Orange 5x, Lavender 40/42, Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Rosemary and Tea Tree. It really helps cut through dirt, grease and grime plus it smells really great. I also use a combo of blue and yellow cornmeal, fullers earth and some apricot seeds.Ann M Quote
jbren Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I got tired of the mint. This year I used Lime, Patchouli & Petitgrain for my gardeners soaps with nail brushes embedded. I used cornmeal and poppy seeds also. Quote
cindym Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 The cornmeal or some clay would also help anchor your fo. Quote
gloworm Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 I believe I've seen that Litsea Cubeba is an anchor for citrus scents.Glo Quote
wildangel112 Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 I do 5x orange with a little rosemary and litsea to anchor. Never had a problem with fading. I also add poppy seed, cornmeal, ground coffee and a bit of finely ground rosemary, lemon & orange peel.Rena Quote
