so-soy
Ok, I am making a one pound batch of soap and I was to add 3.2 oz of olive oil and I actually added 3.3 oz, also I was supposed to add 2.4 oz rice bran oil and added 2.6 oz, will this be a big deal? Is my lye going to way off now? I can't check it in a calculator since the numbers won't add up to 100% now...is it salvageable or did I ruin this batch??? Its just for my use anyway...what do you think?? Thanks for any help you can give!
sudsnwicks
You could use this calculator:http://www.rainbowmeadow.com/infocenter/calc_soap/rainbow_soapcalc.phpIt lets you input the amounts of oils you actually used. Then it gives you the lye amounts at various superfat levels. You can then see how much you ended up superfatting. If it's not way too high, you should be fine.
Carrie
It will be a little more superfatted than you were planning. If you use the lye calc at the-sage.com you don't need to make it 100%. It caculates on the total amount of oils not percentages.http://www.thesage.com/calcs/lyecalc2.php
Carriegsxr6
it may be okay, you might just have a high percent of superfat. meaning that some of the oil did not get turned into soap.
