jwn6w
I read somewhere that you can dip pine cones in wax and make them look pretty. Well I tried making yellow pine cones from my old tarts and the wax does not stay on them. I dipped one pine cone in the wax 3 different times and it looks just like it did before it got dipped! Let me explain I did not dip and dip and dip. I dipped and let it sit for a while and then dipped again. Anybody ever done this and if so what the heck are you suppose to do? I feel like such a dip. Thanks, Joy:wink2:
Steph in tx
I haven't done it personally, but I would let my wax cool alot before dipping. The cooler the wax, the more it would stick to the pinecone, IMO. HTH
joym
I dip them many, many times - maybe 6 or 7 - Also, have the wax about 150-160 degrees.I use 139-140 mp paraffin.HTH.
Scent Cellar
I add some shavings off a white color block and the cones look like they have been snowed upon. But you can use any color you like.
Lightning Bug
Maybe add a bit of beeswax. Donita taught me that beeswax helps in the sticking when dipping canes...worth a try if you have any laying around. Beth
Toni S.
Hi Joy, Steph is correct, the cooler the wax, the more it will stick on the pine cones! I did the same as you when I first started out and couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. HTH
Connie
Another thing that helps is to put your pine cones in the freezer for awhile. This has help me to speed things up. If wax is cool enough, I only have to dip them once. My husband never knows what he going to find in the freezer anyone.:rolleyes2
jwn6w
Well thank you everyone for helping me out. I was so happy about doing this and then when I got the results I did I was so disappointed.
Judette
Yep, dip them with wax cool. I add fragrance - usually something piney or cinnamony- then sprinkle with cosmetic grade opal glitter for sparkle.
