tootie04
I saw someone on here comment that their votives always turn to liquid...Are votives supposed to turn to liquid???I know the dixie cup ones I did years ago did and I thought that they should NOT turn to liquid so I quit making them. I dont burn them and I dont buy them so I dont know how they are supposed to burn...just was wondering.tootie
sudsnwicks
The top will turn to liquid. Same as the melt pool for a container candle.
tootie04
That makes sence but the way this read was the whole thing turns to liquid....tootie
sudsnwicks
Is it possible they meant they have the top completely liquefy so that it needs to be burned in a container? I have had some people burn it on a plate not knowing it isn't a pillar and of course it collapsed.
tootie04
Could be...I was just wondering what they are supposed to do if they are made right.tootie
sudsnwicks
It should burn down similar to a container candle.
bugtussle
My whole votive melts in the votive cup making it a container candle. So yes, it should all turn to liquid. Carole
Darbla
Mine make about a 1/2" deep melt pool.
Judette
Mine make about a 1/2" deep melt pool.Ditto here. They burn similar to a container as long as they are in a tight fitting votive cup. Mine do not all turn to liquid.
Meridith
Votives are actually containerless container candles and will not burn like a pillar. At some point during the burn, your votive will be all liquid just like a container.
tootie04
it looks like it could be either way....I am NOT gonna make them. I was just wondering what they are "supposed" to do. I have received votives as gifts before and they liquidfied all the way on like the 2nd burn. They were very nice. I made them years ago out of soy and mine went liquid pretty quick. I made the Dixie cup ones with KY125 and beeswax. I used vickies votive wicks that had the self centering wick tabs. They never sold that great for me...in that market.tootie
