Love2Scent
Is there a benefit/purpose/advantage to a website splash page? I see some sites with them and some without. Just curious. :undecided :undecided :undecided
flightoffancy
A lot of sites will use a splash page as basically a keyword page. They'll put tons of keywords in the meta information and try to bring traffic in through that page.Personally, I find splash pages annoying as it's just an extra step I have to take to get to the actual website. If you focus on SEO optimization for the actual site then splash pages are unnecessary. Allicia
there used to be more of an advantage in the early google days. Now some search engines even frown upon them.
webgyrl
We strongly recommend to our clients that they avoid a splash page. I don't care what ranking it gains if it turns away customers. People don't want to be click click clicking to get to your products - less is more. You can have the greatest ranked site in the world and be #1 on google for 1 billion years, but if your site turns away customers, it's a moot point. As a shopper, I hate flash and splash pages. I want to get to where I'm going. I'm a busy person and rarely take the time to read through huge chunks of text or spend time on splash pages. So this is just a long way of stating that IMO, no. Avoid them
MissMary
I agree with everything above. If you need a page to bring up to click on a link to get to your products - it's another step added between a customer whom you've never seen.I personally HATE these pages and have honestly left stores with splash pages, because it's just annoying.
